Swimming is always something that I've really been interested in doing, and I've been thinking about taking swim classes this summer to finally get good enough at it. However, the problem with this, of course, is that I'm Pre-op. Jeans tend to be fine, especially with a gaff, or tight underwear, but anything less and there tends to be a bit of a bulge. I've googled a lot and unfortunately just not found all that much.

Anything you guys could recommend from personal experience? Any of you swim, especially competitively?

You can try a swimsuit with a cute little skirt, which is something marketed to cis women to hide big thighs etc. so there's a lot of them out there. It might not be aerodynamic enough for a competitive swimmer, though.

I to am interested in this topic as I would like to get back to swimming with my kids which has been curtailed due to the awkwardness of my transition at this point still not complete and will not be for sometime.

 Maybe loose women's board shorts?

I wear some little swim shorts over my bikini bottom. One of my friends however, tapes when she goes swimming. That way she can wear a one piece and swim laps.

Taping? Tell more.

It's when you use some type of tape, normally medical tape, to keep that thing back between your legs. If you do it right, you can actually create the appearance of a vagina and walk around naked. My friend goes to the nude beach quite often and has never had an issue.

What?!  For real?  I need to learn this.

I find it horrible uncomfortable, and not worth the effort for me. But, that's just me. Besides, I have never walked around naked, and don't plan on starting anytime soon.

In the days before I had my bottom surgery I wore a bikini and held everything in place with medical surgical tape. It worked for me for a while but I'd I had to go to the bathroom I was in trouble and had to keep the roll of tape in my purse. It also hurt quite a bit as well and was murder to remove afterwards. I'm glad it's all in the distant past now.

My concern is finding a look that will cover the girls at the local pool (where I am most certainly not out) without raising eyebrows. Any suggestions?

This depends a lot on your body style. The thinner you are, the harder it will be to hide them. A loose t-shirt might work. Just be careful to pull it away from your body when you get out of the pool.

I am still pretending to be male in public, I also teach swim lessons, and coach two teams.  That said my girls are coming, a little sooner than I planned but I am not complaining.  I am a A cup.  I wear a sports bra with a rash guard on top.  I made the mistake of wearing a t shirt my first week.  Had a young kid ask about my breasts infront of my boss and a bunch of parents.  The bra and rash guard still show some shape but it hides the obvious.

I forget the website but I got a swimsuit bottom off it that has a special place for the junk and makes it look cis down below. they make undies/panties that way also. But it works nice, its comfy,
RedNeck girls have all the fun 8)

I'd definitely go with a swimsuit that has a skirt. That's should hide everything.

I am missing the pool myself, but not sure I'm ready for "pool prime time" -- especially one with open locker rooms.

I would die for having such a thing, too... even if I'm not a regular swimmer.

Ladies, we are far from alone on this issue... Even cis girls consider it to be a nightmare finding the right swim wear... LOL Trust me I have been shopping with a few when they were looking for a swim suit. Argggg!

taping is the most sure way of keeping things flat in the water, Ive been doing it for years when my dysphoria is an issue, using both medical tape and duck tape. You have to take your time doing it though, and have a completely shaven area everywhere the tape is going to be. most of the time it can be done in about 10-15 minutes. the typical method involves taping from the top of the bikini line to between the legs, over the anus, and up the back side to the top rear of the bikini, usually with a "belt" of tape linking the front and back since the back can pop loose sooner than the front from bending and moving more. the downside is that usually means you have to remove/redo it every time you need to do #2, but if you work it right, you can make it stay completely flat with a hole through the tape in the right area to do #1 from while sitting down. Being a bit more creative and patient with the taping, I've been able to get it to where #1 and #2 are possible, but it took the better part of an hour to do and involved rolling/tucking the scrotal area in on itself to look like labia and taping it separately, then inverting the phallus and smoothing down the area with additional layers to pull it all together to the correct anatomical form. the longest I've been able to keep things in check with a single taping was about 5 days... but keep in mind that the longer the tape is on your skin, the more the glue residue will remain after removal, and odors can build up too from the skin not being able to breathe.

There's always the quicker method of just using a gaff or the control top from pantyhose that got damaged and just trim it down to fit seamlessly under the bottom, which sometimes works good for helping hide the tummy too when in a 1 piece thats not a miracle suit or one size smaller than normal (regardless of if it's skirted).  From what I've gathered, natal women wear their clothes a bit looser than we do.

this was from last october fully taped. Had to be creative on the side so no taping showed under the gold buckles. I have other photos of the actual tape if anyone is so inclined, but they are too personal to show publicly.
