I started estrogen in late January. A week into it, I started getting a constant, dull headache, followed by nausea and no appetite the next day. My doctor told me it was normal and would subside. I endured three more days of it, having to call out of work. It was bad. At this time, I wasn't sure if estrogen was right for me. The nipple zaps were new and weird. I wasn't sure how to feel about having breasts. I was afraid. So I stopped taking my hormones. The sickness went away, but I really missed the feeling of estrogen in my body.

After another week, I started back up. I've been back on estrogen for a week again, and here come the headaches. I soldiered on through it today, skating with a damn headache. I love having estrogen flowing through my blood. It feels so good and right, and now I know that transitioning is totally the right thing for me to do.

Now, I've got this damn hormone sickness again, I think. It's just the headache now, so we'll see what tomorrow brings. For everyone here who's on estrogen, how long did the sickness last for you?

You should not feel ill. I suggest you see your Doctor ASAP.

Funny you should day that Cindy..

I felt like I was going to die for the first 6 weeks.. Migraines.. Nausea.. Hot Flushes.. All sorts of things.. My doctor told me it was normal and it would pass. She was right, it did. But I did wonder what the hell I was doing to myself..

Wow, I wasn't even aware of this as a possibility.  Good to know so I'm not taken by surprise when I start hormones, if I get this.

Nothing like headaches etc at all.. After a month or so the painful zaps started in my breasts but not often. Otherwise a picture of health.

Are you drinking enough water? You really are active and if you do not get enough water you can feel light headed, lethargic and out of breath. Drink a lot of water and report the symptoms through the web portal.

I feel so much better today! I've been drinking tons of water. Maybe I just dehydrated myself yesterday, skating for a couple hours without water. I skated for a couple hours today, too, and I feel great. Sore as a bastard, but great! Let's be optimistic and hope that I'm in the clear!

I haven't started hormones quite yet, but a friend of mine seems to be having an allergic reaction to her spiro. She does have a few other medical allergies, too. Hopefully they'll be able to find her a substitute!
