A few days ago I went to see my dentist to see when my next six month cleaning was due. This was the first time that the receptionist was going to see me as a woman, but I've known her for a while and I figured that she should know me. So I walked in, and confronted her, and she looked at me quizzically. Then she asked, "Can I help you?" I told her who I was and she was surprised. She told me that she never even recognized me. I told her that that was amazing, because my cynical mom thought that I would still be the same person with a wig and make up on, and she laughed and told me no way. Then I went to my doctor to find out if I needed a script for some blood work, and the receptionist asked me my name and looking as pretty as I was, she was surprised when I gave her my male name. So I guess I must be passing pretty well these days.  :)

This is awesome! I would have been blushing and fighting an ear to ear smile off. Did you have to?

Eva Marie

Feels good, doesn't it?  :)

I was relating a story recently to a female friend that only knows and has only seen Eva. I told her about showing my female picture to someone that only knows the male me, and that person made a comment that male me and female me look totally different.

That piqued the interest of my friend and she wanted to see, so I dug out my DL and showed her my male picture. She saw it for herself.

It's fun going into places as a female where you are known and getting the quizzical stare. I did the same thing to my dentist recently too

I thought it was pretty awesome as well, but I kept a pretty good composure of myself.

Hey Eva, when my new roommate moved in I showed him pictures of myself first, and his comment was "Who's this?" I told him that it's me, and that he'd have to wait till tomorrow to see. The following day he saw and he was really surprised on how much I had changed from being a male to a female. My entire mannerisms had changed so much that he couldn't believe it. Now on Wednesday I'll be seeing my neurologist for the first time as a woman, and I'm sure that she'll be surprised!  :)

I couldn't agree with you more on that thought there Grace. My other roommate tells me that he believes that she's jealous of me . . .  My mom is a diabetic, and she tells me that she doesn't wear much make-up, so I can tell that she'd love to be able to do a lot of the things that I do. :icon_yes:

Yesterday my neighbor told me that her room mate enjoyed meeting me the other day and she told her that I was one of the first persons she's meet that knows how to put on makeup properly. I felt good about that compliment.   :icon_mrhappy:

Hey Gennee, I thought it was really nice as well!  :) Apparently she's been talking a lot about me with her roommate!  :icon_mrhappy:

Today I went to see my GP about some blood work that I just had done, and my mom was there as well. After we got the results, which were good, she told my GP that I think that I'm a woman and that she believes that I wasn't born this way bit it more stems from my accident and then she told him that I saw a psychiatrist and he put me on rispridone to help clear my thoughts, but she neglected to tell him that he had told her that I am suffering from GID. She then told him that I have been seeing a therapist. Then as we were leaving she told me that I could loose him if I come dressed as a woman. Little does she know that I've already been there dressed when I was having the blood work done and I've had no problems. So go figure?  ???

Gina, I don't want to pry, but I'm curious. Given all the grief you get from your mother and her repeated attempts to disparage your transition, why do you have her come along to your appointments?
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

It's no problem Suzi. My mother likes to come along to my appointments so that she can hear exactly what the doctor is saying instead of hearing it from me, which she feels I'll give her a misconstrued version. So to avoid any problems, she comes and she hears. But she doesn't realize that the doctor is there to help us not just me, so for her to tell me that because I'm now seeing him as a woman instead of as a man, that I'm going to lose him is absolutely ridiculous!

Last night my neighbors invited me to go grocery shopping with them. Four woman shopping at Wal-Mart was fun! I've been totally accepted by them and it felt very liberating to be a part of them!  :) For once I'm not feeling like an outcast!

Well done ladies!  I know I still need reassurance so it's good to share with yours.

I had a nice experience yesterday.  There was a young man in the shopping precinct drawing caricatures.  I had him do mine and bought it.  He must have spent 10 to 15 minutes looking carefully at me and drawing, then when he had finished I told him I am trans.  He had no idea.

Hey Mary, I'm sure that when you told him that you were a Trans I'm sure that he had a very surprised look on his face. Yesterday, I was talking with a woman, and I told her that I was a published author. She told me that she wanted to buy a copy of my book, so when she gets it, I'm sure that she'll be surprised as well, since it's done under my male guise.  ;D

Nice!  That's springing it on her when she's not expecting it.

It's kind of strange. She asked me for my phone number, and she told me that she was going to order it immediately. So if she saw any problems, I'm sure that she would have called me . . .
