our chancellor is all chummy with Putin. But then again, she's always wearing brown lipstick, if you know what i mean. She doesn't seem to do much except say yes.

It was Germany and Japan in WWII, 2014 is starting to look like Russia and China. The Chinese have been building up their military over the years and already have "territorial disputes" with their neighbors. By showing weakness to the Russians we are basically encouraging them to do the same thing, sweep in and take what they want.

What's the worse thing that can happen ? (nuclear war)  And if it does what can "you" do about it ?(?) If you can do something about it(nuke proof shelter for the lucky few perhaps)....why worry ? and if you can't...why worry ? ( ?)

I don't think the problem here is paranoia, but rather complacency and maybe even betrayal. Let's not forget, or you may not know given the worthless media, but the U.S. and Brittan have an active treaty in place with Ukraine. We've agreed to protect them when they agreed to give up their nukes. We have to protect them, that is the deal.

I suspect and fear Obama has already decided to do nothing. At this pace, Russia will be occupying all of Ukraine before they get their 'tough' statement finished.

stabilize the economy of Ukraine by providing financial loans,
Re-arm the Ukrainians by providing them with training and weapons and intelligence,

Those are good thoughts, I predict not one will happen though. We stand a better chance of my time machine approach.

Issue our usual sanctions and condemnations, and nothing more unless NATO itself gets involved. We did sign a treaty in the 90s with the Ukraine sure, but I don't consider that a serious obligation compared to our NATO obligations. It should be noted however that Ukrainian troops do have a role in ISAF, helping us in Afghanistan but, if I understand what I am reading correctly they only supplied 13 officers to the conflict, even taking into account the Ukraine's small size I hardly consider it a reciprocal relationship.

Putin will destroy himself in time, or he will make the mistake of being aggressive towards NATO, either way I feel he has a time limit.
