Spiro only, 2 months, they got tender and I noticed very small bumps underneath the nipples.
Surprise, surprise.  You got breasts now, and emotions bubbling up to go along with them.

Natalia : Serious compression (=binding) can damage developing breast tissue. Light compression (=most sports bras) is fine. Personally I'd guess that your compression tank is not a risk... but I'd also recommend erring on the side of caution, just in case, so you might want to find a slightly less aggressive option.

I had a lot of luck with a regular high-compression sports bra with a T-shirt and loose overshirt layered on top.  There are also men's exercise compression shirts that are generally pretty low-stress compared to sports bras, but flatten things into a more masculine silhouette.

The women in my family all have small breasts - nothing much larger than an A cup. I'm not really surprised that after a year on HRT my breasts are still very small. Adding progesterone helped a lot, but they are only just starting to take shape. Some develop fast, others a lot slower. Hopefully i can a least get an A cup lol.

I am used to sleeping on my stomach and I am worried about it hindering breast growth. Is it just a myth or do I need to adjust my self to sleep on my side in order not to end up with small boobs >_<

Laurelin : It's a myth... but you probably will find that sleeping on them isn't happening anyway. :) It was a couple years before I didn't wake up, yelping, when I rolled onto my stomach.

The tank I have does not exerce a huuuuge compression, but it is enough to flatten my chest almost entirely...I am really in need of wearing them now, so every time I get out home I must wear something to hide my breasts...I hope this level of compression is not harmful. A normal bra is quite ineffective to flatten, just to hold them in place...a compression tank may be dangerous...what a situation lol

This is an interesting thread. And it seems that there are some conclusions that can be drawn after reading the replies from this and other threads like this one.

The time it takes for your breasts to start growing seems to depend on:

  • The amount of Estrogen you take
  • The age of the posters
  • Genetics
It appears that there also is a slight placebo-effect from starting HRT in many cases. This is most likely due to the thrill of finally being on your way.
So in conclusion it seems that there are no surprises with the results and that everyone will get results, sooner or later.

The amount of estrogen you take only matters up to a point. A body can only absorb so much. A small dose will likely cause slower growth than an average dose. Once the hormone receptors are active they are active. They do not become hyper active.

Age seems to have little if anything to do with breast development from what I have seen, although it used to be what people said and old info dies hard. Age does give testosterone more time to do its work, and much of what T does is unreversable with HRT alone.

There is some debate over placebo. The first effects people tend to report have to do with feeling calm and less anxious, this may be a placebo or it may be the catharsis of starting HRT finally. That said, estrogen hits the brain with surprising speed, depending on how it is administered.

Breast development, and nipple development are frequently the first noticeable physical changes caused by estrogen and it is not uncommon for things to start within a week or month. This is not placebo. But it can take much longer for some.

so are they going to hurt? xD I am only at 1 month hrt here and still no pain. It is weird but I would be thrilled if they started hurting like others have described :)

I can't imagine it having any effect on breast growth. What I can picture however is back problems starting to pop up. Depending on how much growth you get you may end up changing the angle of your spine when you sleep.

Laurelin : Well, everyone's different, but yeah, hurting seems to be a pretty common theme. I'm glad you're not dreading it, considering. :)

(I actually never had pain to the level some people describe; I'd say it was more of a dull ache when poked directly, usually.)

Allison : That's another excellent point!

They don't hurt the way they did when first growth appeared.
Now, it's an all-day-long itch or chafing, depending on whether I am wearing a bra or not.

I went from A cup moobs to a C cup in 6 weeks. I was surprised by the quickness at which it happened. However, they hurt like crazy that whole time. ;D

Joan

Two months here.

I got aches in my breasts 2 days after my first injection, and itching, and the breast tissue began to form pretty much immediately. None of these things has let up since and though I still haven't figures what constitutes a cup size, I've gone from a 4cm gap between under and over to a 12cm gap. There have been a whole load of other changes in skin, hair growth and other things, and I'm glad with how things work out.

I'd heard that older people didn't get a lot of change with HRT and as I'm in my mid 40s I wasn't expecting much. It is a real YMMV thing.

This I did not know and it sounds hopeful.  I am finally at full dose... change has been slow.  They don't hurt much anymore, but sometimes I feel it.  This post gives me a little more hope about it, I am still an A one side and the other is middle A to B.

I've been on hrt for 4-5 months, E patches, spiro & fin. Mine nipples get real hot & sensitive some days, itch like crazy, then they go quiet for a while???? I might be a B cup but still not very large at all. I'm hopeful for nice size breasts, genetics look good for me I hope.

I just noticed my breasts coming in last night, so it was 24 days on HRT until I got my first sign of them. I haven't had any experience with them hurting, more of a dull pain that I could feel but was tolerable.

ill be starting hrt next week so, im hoping mine grow when I begin it, I heard it could take years but I guess it depends on age and body also. im unsure though but Im hoping only for B cup size breasts I really don't want anything bigger than that.

I played with my nipples a lot when I started HRT because I was anticipating some type of pain or something lol. After about 3 weeks in, I felt slight tingles of like tiny jolts of pain when i pressed really hard on the nipples. My left nipple got a bud 1 month in and my right one followed suit 1.5 months in. I am now at the stage where they are numb and hurt pretty bad if I randomly press on them after leaving them alone all day haha. If I look at my profile, they jet out like little cones in Tanner II stage but front view, they just look like swelled up pecs lol. But I know they aren't because I never had pecs and when I lift the cup area at the bottom, a form some cleavage or whatever lol. I'm 2.5 months in btw. I'm still early in the transition so I still have lots of growth to go I hope.

I had soreness and buds behind my nipples after 7 weeks of gel and fin.  I'm about 11 weeks in now and the buds have grown in thickness and diameter, and a little more mass around the areoles.  Breasts do not hurt unless they are somehow bumped, then you know things are underway.  I'm not even an A cup, but there is definitely growth going on!  I'm 61, btw.  Body hair is very slow to grow back after waxing, too!
