I recently came out as transgender with my employer.  When I go to work I go threw a private Heliport.  I have been informed that immediately following my official coming out, person or persons have filed claims of unprofessional behavior against me.  I've never had any issues before I came out.  Can barely believe it but I am being harassed and persecuted for my gender.

I knew it happened but I'm really didn't think it would happen to me.  But it really is.  I need a hug.  I will be filing counter claims of harassment.  But nothing good can happen form this.  the best I can hope is that it won't spiral out of control and get me fired.  God.  help me.

Hey , I am really sorry to hear that  . Many hugs from me , we are here to support you .

It is awful that things like this happen , I really hope that the situation will get better soon . Unfortunately I am not good at legal / employment matters so I don't have a proper advice or suggestion . Try to think positive and be calm , good ideas come easier this way . My opinion is that they can't fire you , because no matter what the claims against you say , being transgender is not 'unprofessional behavior ' .

I wish you the best

You don't know what te accusation is, who the accuser is? It's a bit hard to respond if not. The person is likely a bigot or an idiot or both so try not to let them get you down. I hope you can get it under control and sorted quickly. Hugs Grace

I'm sorry this happened to you but don't let it discourage you, that what they want.

I'd suggest looking up any non-discrimination laws you may have in your city or state as a start. Then find out if you have anything similar in writing at your job. Also, if you have any copies of your most recent job evaluations that would be great. In the off chance that these complaints lead to you being fired it would be concrete proof against any silly allegations that are being used against you. If things seem to be getting worse I'd seek legal advice. This isn't your fault and you don't have to put up with this kind of treatment.

Oh and I almost forgot, start documenting everything from dates to times and make sure to include as many details as possible.

@Ms Grace, I'm trying to to put to many details  but what is in the complaints is.  Literally exactly what everyone does and says.  So I'm having complaints filed about things that no one has ever had a complaint filed about.  And it comes right on the heels of me coming out, at the heliport.  Nothing I did or said is uncommon.

@Janae, I am going to file a discrimination complaint with the HR of the people filing against me.  I want it on the record.  Because they arn't going to stop.  They don't think they are doing anything wrong.  They think I'm a freak, and they should be much harder on me for that. My HR has asked me to come in, and I will be recording the conversation.  The HR person says I don't need to worry about getting fired.  at least not for this.  but if I don't dispute this, it will start a trend.  Oh, but I have about 5-9 really awesome Eval's on file.  And I'm getting 2 for this job jsut to be safe.

@ everyone hugggggsssssssssss  thank you for being here with me.

I will be standing on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, specificly.

Prohibits covered entities from subjecting an individual to different standards or treatment based on that individual's actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity or discriminating against an individual based on the sexual orientation or gender identity of those with whom the individual associates.

Hopefully I can stop this early.

I'm sorry this is happening.  Just remember it's not your fault that people lash out like that.  It says more about them than you.  Hang in there.

I'm really sorry to hear this is happening to you, I went through this with my last employer until they announced they would be making people redundant, it was a very crappy minimum wage job so I took redundancy as the stress was making me ill, if the job was half way decent i'd have fought them all the way.

Are you allowed to take someone in to HR meetings with you for support & to be a witness?
I was allowed this & was fortunate to have a few fellow staff members who supported me 100%. The woman who came into the meetings with me always had a good laugh when she left the meetings as I tied the HR manager up in knots every time we met, I didn't care about keeping my job long term but had to fight to make sure they at least kept me there long enough for me to get my redundancy payout.

Do you have any superiors who support you & would be willing to testify on your behalf about your work ethic being exactly the same as your fellow workers?

I truly wish you all the best

a billion hugs. So sorry that this is happening. As was suggested a good lawyer will help. You can probably get help through the local lgbt community. Hope things work out. The world could be such a wonderful place if all this stuff would stop.

Are any of the companies EEOC employers. If so they can be held to the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

For many years many have said that sex harrasment was and has always been covered for transgenders under the sex part of discrimination. Just not many transgenders have the money to fight in courts.

Wish you luck and also keep Lambda Legal in mind if you need some help.

Bummer. That sucks.

Be alert to stalking, vandalism, or assault, especially if the the harassment blows back onto the perpetrator(s) in the form of disciplinary action to them. Jerks tend to not know when to let it go.

But I hope it all works out for ya.
  •

@JamesG  The good news in all this, is that I live 2 states away form the people hassing me.  they can only get at me when I'm coming threw on my crew change :)
