Ok I've begun being harassed by the staff of a privately owned heliport that I am required to use as part of my job.  what do I do?

I am very scared and I need a hug.

Are there LGBT legal aid groups near where you are? It's illegal what they're doing so seeing a lawyer might help. Is there a PFLAG or some other LGBT support organization?

Keep careful documents. Write down specifics. What time did it happen. Who was involved? What did they do? How did you react and how did you feel?

If all else fails, try contacting EEOC, whose job it is to enforce these laws.

Good luck, Jennifer, and all my hugs. No one should have to endure this.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Knowing the area of the US where you work and the types of people in that area i'm not surprised by this. It's still 1950 there.

One approach you might try is to approach your employer at the corporate level and report the situation. They cut the checks to the heliport, and if they threaten to take their business elsewhere because of your treatment the harassment will most likely stop. Reporting it to the heliport will do no good because you are ultimately just a passenger and have no ability to affect anyone's paycheck.

Good luck Jennifer, no one should have to put up with this crap.

Edit: I just saw your other thread. Wow. Lawyer up and go after those bigots.
