Was wondering what people who are post-phallo with no internal erectile devices do for erections? Would wearing a condom be enough? I've also heard that different procedures result in different levels of stiffness of the neophallus.

On a different note, has anyone had or know of anyone who's had phalloplasty in Thailand?

It is a hassle, but possible to manipulate an erection without the internal device. I opted not to get the device (despite the wonderful benefits there would be!). A condom wouldn't add enough firmness (...trust me :p ). You can buy external "Sleeves" from sex toy shops (online or in person).
I would say youre right that different procedures can leave you with varying levels of firmness of the penis, I have heard that the forearm phallo is probably the most flaccid/soft, so would require more "firming up" for sex!

So it is possible to have sex without the device, but unfortunately, it is somewhat of a hassle/pain to fiddle around and sort it, especially in the moment!

Also, I didn't have surgery in Thailand, so, sorry that I cant help there.

I haven't undergone surgery yet, but I've been looking into this a little because I don't think I'm going to want the internal erection device.  Seems to be a bit annoying/potentially problematic, and I doubt I'm going to want to have my dick cut open every so often to get it replaced.

There are hollow strap ons they sell for bio-dudes who can't get hard.  I imagine I'll use one of those.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Thanks, I guess a sleeve is the way to go. I did find this though: http://www.theelator.com/ could be interesting to maintain an erection without covering it, and if as it says it can be slipped on as easy as a condom.

Was preferring forearm due to increased sensation (allegedly) but are some of the other graft sites good at retaining sensation?

FWIW only potential problem with "The Elator" will be the definition of your constructed glans/head. And far as I know, in all my research generally the most sensation in found from a forearm phalloplasty - not to say other types don't have sensation or a level of sensation satisfactory to the owner. But one of the reasons I am choosing forearm phalloplasty is for the sensation (not my only requirement, but high on the list)...

I plan on having an erectile device in the future, but for while I wait, i've tried other options and will probably try more. I had forearm phallo and and tried condoms and it wasnt firm enough. I tried a sleeve but it was too tight and uncomfortable. I'm don't like that any non implant option ends up being something thick covering my penis (plus i'd like to have sex without disclosing). That takes away half the pleasure. Bur if anyone finds a good option I'd really like to know.

A few of my friends chose to have a piece of cartilage from their ribs implanted in the penis. Even though it would not help with erection, the cartilage did give a nice firmness that they are able to do penetrative sex.
Also if you choose not to have any kind of implant at all, erection can still be achieved by sleeves, or wrapping it with hard medical tape. The ftm prosthetics are developing a sheath for post-phalloplasty customers, you can see some of the pictures online

when I had my SRS with Dr.Kamol (Bangkok, Thailand) in September last year, there was a FTM Japanese guy next door who just had his phalloplasty done too .. you should check out Dr.Kamol's website .. I think there are some pictures of the patients on his facebook webpage as well

Good luck !

Thanks for the tip! I think the Japanese FTM community might have more info on Thai surgeons, since I heard a lot of them travel there for their GRS.

I've had sex a few times before and have not had an internal pump inserted. Due to past complications, I opted out of that part. It worked just fine, and I didn't have any complaints :)
