So after lurking for...longer than I'd care to admit, I figure it's about bloody time I actually make one of these. Between scouring the threads on here, and the support and inspiration of my amazing ftm boyfriend (seriously, he's like a li'l pocket sized version of Harry Potter's hotter older brother. *swoon!*) I finally realized that settling for an unhappy life in the wrong gender is just not something the pissed-off riot grrrl in me is gonna stand for anymore. In the last few weeks, I've made an appointment with an Informed Consent doctor to discuss beginning HRT, and I've come out to both my mother and my younger sister, both of whom have reacted with incredible support, love and somewhat less surprise than I was expecting. (hoping? haha) I'm smoking one of the last two cigarettes I'm ever going to have right now, and for once, there's nothing I dread about that prospect.

I'm 27 years old, and 28 is gonna be pretty damn great.  ;D ;D

A big warm welcome to the family! You have found a great support family here as well as a ton of information on transition. All of the information here is from those going through the process from start to Post Op. Feel free to rant, vent, share good news (we like that) or just have some fun and meet the family, your family now. Here is a BIG HUG  :icon_hug: to welcome you and make you feel right at home! :)

Thanks for the welcome  :)  I live in a city that's...well, it's probably the most trans-friendly city in this state, but  it's Arizona, so take from that what you will  >:-) Finding a community is somewhat especially needed when your state legislature has actually had serious debates and passed bills regarding which bathroom you're supposed to be using.  :-\  I'm actually kinda amazed I found a Doctor that uses IC here, one of the things that's kept me from ever being out about this in the past is the, shall we say unfavorable response I've gotten from counselors and psychiatrists when I was a teenager in this city.
