I've been thinking about calling my doc at Kaiser and telling her that I'm not a lesbian and that I'm transgender. I've thought about doing this today so I can maybe get some resources from her so that maybe she can help my mom with me being transgender. (explain what it means, maybe ease her into it. . .)

I also want to do this so she can see if my insurance will cover my transition over the years.

Does this sound like a good idea?

Do you think your doctor would be supportive? I read your other post about your mom and your hair. I didn't have any useful advice sorry. If you think your doctor will be supportive I think it's a great idea.

I haven't talked to a doctor yet but hope to find one soon that's trans friendly. So I don't really know how talking with a doctor about this goes.

Not too sure if she will be. I just need someone to help with coming out to my mom. She did say if I ever had a problem, I could call her and discuss it with her.

Well not sure what to say,  if I didn't feel okay with the doctor, I'd change. But I think that the doctor has to know if you plan to take T and so on. I have heard that Kaiser has paid for top surgery and so on. Of course, I don't know what plan you have, but something about the laws in CA.

I'll probably call her during the week to see what she do. If she doesn't react well, I'll probably switch. I never knew that Kaiser pays for top surgery.  Interesting.
