i mean that stupid female system in me. it's never worked properly. i know the cycle can be irregular when you're young, but i'm 19 now and it's been almost 8 years since it started. i've never kept track of the dates mentally or noted down, but i know it's never happened in me once every month. it's been more than a year since it got way more sparse and light, like once every 3 months or so. i had the last one probably in december, and this time about 3 days back (i dont even remember that) i got cramps and knew it was coming. and there it was, brown stains of day 1. and next day, there's nothing! i mean, was that all it could build up in 3 months? yeah i'm more than glad its sparse and light like this. hope it fades away into nothing like this. but i'm getting sacred. do i have pcos? i don't show any bodyhair or acne issues that come with it. i'm freaking out more at the thought of taking this issue to a gyno and being medicated with female hormones. i'm preT in case you didn't know. what do you think?

Well, you would be surprised how that cycle can actually be affected if you are under a lot of stress. I recommend just making an appointment a doctor and have things checked out as soon as possible. As the saying goes, it is better to be safe then sorry. I hope things will clear up soon and that it is nothing serious :) Good luck.

I second what Dalex suggested. Get it checked out, but don't panic in the meantime.

You should be getting an annual pap smear, anyway, so make an appointment and talk to the doc about it. There are many things that can cause you to be irregular or have no period at all. Stress is one, low body fat (many female athletes don't menstruate) is another. But your doctor is the expert and should be able to find out why, and tell you if it's a problem or not.

I never got mine on time either and it was all messed up, when I was 20, finally went to a doctor about it, they ran hormone tests and yes put me on birth control to fix it, but you can say no to the birth control, just get it checked

I think you should go see a gynocologist.  You need to make sure everything is ok.  You don't have to take birth control/do anything with hormones, if you don't want to.  Don't let your worry about that put your health at risk by not going.

I agree with everyone else. It sucks to put your feet in stirrups but you should make sure you are healthy. I had a problem a while back and I won't go into details (it's really gnarly) but I had a pretty serious health problem that would have been much easier to treat if I had sucked it up and dealt with the 5 minutes of discomfort.

I will jump on the bandwagon. Get it checked out. It could be anything and you don't have to take hormones if you don't want to. I had a similar experience to Ayden. I had a pretty major issue that needed to be dealt with and it would have been much better if it was dealt with earlier.

uh-oh... i'm getting scared. i read somewhere that you don't have to worry much if it happens at least once 3 moths, but one day once 3 moths is weird right? i mean, what was it doing all those months? i'm not skinny at all or overweight, and i don't do any exercise other than walking. stress could be a factor. since i'm beginning to accept the fact that i'm a transguy, my dysphoria is getting worse. plus i've got this exam in august which is going to decide the rest of my life, so that's quite stressful as well. but seriously, i don't know if i could bear to talk about it with anyone else. you know what, i was cringing and my fingers were shaking the whole time i was typing the first post. if i tell mom now she's going to panic and call all her sisters for advice, and when they see me next time that's the only thing they're going to talk about. i'm planning to see a psychologist after the exams by myself, maybe i should add seeing a gyno to the trip as well.

I had a friend who got one period a year. And it was healthy, just her. There are anomalies.

It might surprise you to know that there are two less well-known hormones whose production could be affected when you're stressed, and that this can cause erratic (or absent) monthlies and even menopause-like symptoms. They're called Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH), and being stressed for long periods can throw them out of whack.

It might not be a bad idea to ask your doctor to check your levels of these hormones, just to be sure.

oh yes i know them, and GnRH. in fact i'm doing biology for A'levels.
urgh! i don't know. waiting another 5-6 months won't hurt right? besides i prefer the way it is now. it's just that it scares me at times, like giving me these weird thoughts. like, what if the way out is too narrow and years of debris is clogged up in there rotting itself? gross. it's gross even when it isn't clogged up anyway. maybe i had been right when i was young. i thoroughly believed i actually was a hero disguised in a girls body by whatever good forces so that the villains won't be able to find me and destroy me. when i come to the right age i'm going to shed this cover and real me would emerge. i used to think my system didn't work properly cos it's fake. the real male system is concealed inside!
