I know alcohol is bad for the liver especially combined with hormones but does it also reduce the effect of HRT?

I don't have a medical degree, I am not a doctor. But, I have extensively studied the subject matter and according to studies, to findings, it appears that bio-identical estrogen's effects on liver would be quite insignificant. I believe I am allowed to disagree and I'm offering my opinion based on my knowledge of the subject. Find me one study where liver function was compromised in several subjects on bio-identical estrogen and I will change my mind.

The greatest concern is not so much that liver is stressed with estrogen but that clotting proteins/enzymes produced in the liver are affected in such a way that clotting is increased. If we consider the potency of bio-identical estradiol relative to ethinyl estradiol, the risks of DVT with birth control pills containing ethinyl estradiol, then we come to realize that even DVT risks are quite low with bio-identical estradiol given the doses we are usually prescribed.

While you are free to discuss hrt, you are not to recommend specific course of actions to others, that is the role for their own doctor That includes promoting the exclusive or specific use of Bio-identical hormones.

I have wine or alcohol a few times a week and have been on HRT for the past few years. Other than not having full hips and less body hair in a few places, I'm not convinced alcohol has hindered me at all. Now would I shoot my doses with any booze? Hell no! In fact, I have a window of a few hours of not drinking after I've taken my dose. I don't want to tax my liver more than it needs to be. I do get my full gamut of bloodwork done yearly, if not semi-yearly.
