I'm 5ft (last time I was measured it was 4'11"... but i refuse to believe that!) and I am way past my growing times... will start shrinking in a few years i bet! :-/

Dont worry so much! Short guys do exist!! The only way you're going to get beyond it is by learning to accept yourself the way you are, learn to love your short ass. What I do is make fun of myself for it! If you cant laugh at yourself, how the hell you going to laugh at someone else? ;) lol i think it goes like that.... >_>

I still wish i was taller though... lol but it's not something I can change. I'm stuck with it. Might as well embrace it.

I not short, I'm vertically challenged. So to someone in a store when I can't reach something, "I'm sorry I can't reach this, I'm vertically challenged." Usually gets a laugh. Most people do understand you were born like that, unlike some other sorts of physical variations, and I've found people who are not children (yes, I am including immature 16 year olds here) are nice about it.

Might enjoy this tumblr: http://f**kyeahshortguys.tumblr.com/
You'll have to spell out that word. :)

I'm like 5and 1/2. I worked with guys who were shorter then me. One day they'd come to work and I could see over their head, the next day they came in they were taller then me. Very curious experience,

My grandma was gone for two months and the first thing she asked was if I got taller. I doubt it I just got straighter from getting my posture fixed at the chiro.

I'm 5'6" and as tall as all the cismales in my family. Shorter men in the family so I blend in. We're all short, hairy irishmen. Little Thorin Oakenshields, the lot of us.
One option if you want to add an inch or so of height are these inserts you can get for shoes. I think called shoe risers?

It sounds like you still have a few good years of bone growth, though. :)

I'm a whopping 5''2.5' here, and my bones have already fused together so there's definitely no hope of growth once I get on T.. my doctor said MAYBE 1/4th or 1/2th of an inch in the next couple of years but it's highly unlikely. There are tons of reasons why it's still great to be short, and as long as you stand tall and proud, nobody will question your identity.

One question I have though for the other guys is where you get most of your clothing. I usually have to look in the Boys' section and it's a little embarrassing to be honest. Additionally, does anyone know some specific brands that aren't expensive and can fit a guy like me well?

I know a lot of Asian clothing runs on the smaller side. Perhaps some online shopping?  I tried ordering an extra large once and it turned out to be closer to US medium xD  Had to give it away.

If you're still seeing a pediatrician I'm guessing you're under the age of 18?  Definitely don't give up hope!  I didn't stop growing until I was 21 (put on 2 inches during college), and same for several of my class mates.  Make sure you're eating healthy and definitely worth talking to a doctor about increasing height.  And like many of the others have said on here, a 5'1" male is not viewed as anything other than a male once people start acting like adults.

Guess brand runs on the small side, and I know that American Eagle, the Gap, and J Crew sell extra smalls (best bet for selection is probably online)

As stated earlier, Asian brands run smaller and I luckily really like Asian fashion. c:

In jeans I'm barely a 28/28 so I can find those sometimes. I know I found some 28/28 chinos at Kohl's. The Kohl's "boys" section is also for 7-20 year olds so they have some okay stuff there.
American Eagle [or Aeropostale if you are cheap like me] have pants down to 27/28.
H&M carries 28 waist pants and they have XS shirts. H&M is where I get most of my shirts. I like the style there so it's great.
I fit into S size Hanes A Shirts that can be picked up at any department store if you want some cheap shirts to wear under button-ups.

I've heard reports that if you go on hormone blockers, you won't necessarily stop growing taller...but I don't know much about them. Still, you should ask your doctor about blockers, pronto. Someone mentioned HGH...that's something to ask your doctor about, too, I suppose.

I transitioned in my forties and grew a little on T--not quite an inch, but it changed my perception. I kept wondering why my therapist and one of my best friends seemed shorter than I thought they were. I've heard a few other reports from guys who say they have grown. I never really believed them until it happened to me. But you sure as heck can't bank on it.

Being very short in a land of giants (I live in Holland) has stopped me from transitioning for years. Like you, I didn't want to become this tiny man. But after a while, I couldn't take it anymore and this thought hit me: I can stay a short female and be miserable about being a woman, or I can become a very short male but at least be happy about being a man. Once I decided that, life became worth living and I haven't regretted it one bit. Yes, being short sucks, especially when you are shorter than all women too (honestly, the women here are -huge-). But hey, it's not all that matters in life.

I feel ya, man.  I am 5'3" and at age 27 I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be growing any taller when I start T.  Which bugs me a lot, because I know I can't do anything to fix it, and one thing I have always wanted was to be tall.  But since I can't do anything about it really I try not to let it get me down and focus more on the things I CAN change.

I have heard, and I am no medical professional, so this is just what I've HEARD, that you don't actually completely stop growing until you hit 25.  So if you are young, you may still have a chance to grow a bit more.  If not though, don't sweat it, man.  I know sometimes things can seem like such a big issue it just makes you wanna give up.  Being short SUCKS, but it's not worth ending your life over.  And as others have mentioned, there are ways to boost your height and make yourself look taller. (those shoes sound pretty nifty XD I might try those someday)  And plenty of short guys out there, so you're definitely not alone!

Low self confidence is a lot more noticeable than low height. The more you worry about it the more people will pay attention and notice. Play it off, be confident, and nobody will give it much thought if any.

Amen sister!!! So very true. I actually think that confidence in a small guy is particular strong somehow.

I personally was extremely depressed and discouraged to start living as a woman because of my chest measurements, and I was actually considering removing one of my lungs and then having all of my ribs broken, made shorter and merged together. Hmm, Yeah... That's what being transsexual is about. Living is so hard, it's so hard...

But I got over it! I don't think it's that big anymore! Hopefully when I get my breasts done, I'll just look like I have big boobies, as they will cover my chest and stuff :)

I'm not super short, I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to be 5'2 or 5'1, if it was possible to swap with you, I'd fu**ing pay. Like a lot. A lot.

I'm 5'10 which is tall for a girl, but it's not super outrageously freakishly tall... I've learnt to accept that.

I think if you find yourself a girl shorter than you, which wouldn't be very hard, you would feel a lot more manly and it'd help a lot!

Aw gee, so sweet! :) I seem to remind lots of people of their uncles. Too bad it isn't some hot thing somewhere but oh well.

@Crow crow-- this is about gender norms. 5'1" is to transmen what 5'11" is to a transwoman, outside of the gender norm. Of course there are cisfolks outside the gender size norms. I had a good friend, presumably cis and she was 5'11". No one thought anything of it. I think it's a nice little trans day dream that trans men and trans women could switch bodies. Too bad. :)

Hey Brotha,
I am 5'3 and half and I know the feeling. For a long time it got to me, I bought the shoes, and tried other things. But what helped me was realizing there are TONS of guys who are short. Here is a good site that might cheer you up!

I also know that Frankie Muniez is 5'3 and hes had women left and right. lol Cheer up bro!

I think all grandmas ask that question. Mine does every time I see her, and I havent gained an inch in years.

But I get that it sucks being small. I live in Norway, and guys and girls alike tower over me. Like a hobbit living with elves.
