We all live in our little bubbles each one separated from the other. We do our thing and for the most part do not affect the lives of others to a great extent. But is this how we should be or should we reach out and give back to the community that supports and fights for us. This has been illustrated by the recent discussion in the board and from my discussions with the others that run TG sites.

I wonder many times why we try to compete against each other and why we don't just all get together and make a site each of us would link to and provide content to. I would insist this site is non-commercial as subscriptions and other forms of commercial sites tend to be intimidating to newer visitors.

Well now that I am done spouting my pipe dreams let me get to the meat of this article. Many of you visit transgender sites of one form or the other. Have you each sat down and thought about giving something back to the community. It can be as simple as gathering links. Local information of interest to those who are transgendered. It could be posting information that could be of help to others on a message board. Writing howto's, or stories about your personal experiences. It could be hosting sections of the sites you visit.

I know of very few site operators who would turn down a genuine offer of help and assistance. I am not speaking of money, as most of us do not have the money to give. I am speaking of your time. Time to handle some of the many tasks that the people who run these sites find impossible to get done on their own. All of the above tasks and many others that are too numerous to post here. If you don't think you have the skills or ability to help just ask anyway and I am sure they will find something you can contribute towards.

This article is not aimed solely at my site but sites such as this one, The Transgender forum, and many others. Sites such as these provide much information to those in the community. All of us spend uncountable hours working on our sites even when you see no outward changes. These sites cost in the thousands of dollars and all of them would probably gladly accept if you offered to help them in some form or fashion. Lets all find the time to do at least something for the sites you visit and I think that you would be pleasantly surprised by the results. What you do might only take 5 minutes of your time but when you add up the time you and others spend it would have taken a long time or even never have been done as other things had precedence.
