So I'm planning to become a patient with Fenway Health/Sidney Borum in Boston, and do the informed consent for T. But I have a question about blood work coverage.
I have BMC HealthNet/Masshealth Essential(i think it's essential) and I know they cover lab work, but I'm not sure if Fenway can get it covered cuz it's trans-related? Fenway accepts my insurance btw.
And my insurance also covers T, but it's Prior Authorisation and for medical necessity. So i'm wonderin if Fenway can get that covered too? I know some trans peep's doctors list it as stuff like "hormone imbalance" etc. (oh and my gender marker isn't changed with health insurance btw).(and also I think basically all trans stuff is excluded. I tried searchin for where it says that for masshealth but i can't find it)
It's fine if T won't get covered, cuz my brother agreed to me borrowin money until I have a job. But i need to know if the blood work can get covered, cuz if it can, then I'll just be left with co-pays that I don't have to pay cuz my insurance exempts 19 and 20 year olds from co-pays for some reason. If it's not covered, I'll have to wait to start T until I have a job, cuz combined with the T costs, it'll be too much for my bro to spare.(and I'm plannin on gettin T from someplace like CVS and usin a goodrx coupon, or Strohecker's, or the Fenway Pharmacy which is the only one where I don't know the price of T---and I tried emailing them a couple days ago about this and some other stuff, but i haven't heard back from them yet)
Any info anyone has would be greatly appreciated!
