Hey everyone, it's Viktor here. I'm currently pre-everything and in the closet. Lately, I've been seriously contemplating a haircut. Something I've avoided due to the fear of looking really butch 'cause I'm out as "gay" to everyone.

I need to move out before I can start transitioning and that's not gonna happen for a few years. The older I get, the more down I feel about it all. That's why I've decided to finally cut my hair short for the summer. I wanna use the heat as an excuse. Though, I know people are gonna give me a ton of grief for it 'cause I have nice hair but I just don't care anymore. I'm the one that's suffering here and getting a haircut is one of the few things that'll make me feel a bit better about myself. It'll be incredibly liberating.

Anyway, I would like some help with what kind of haircut I should get. I work in the middle of the gay village in my area and there's a few barbers/salons around. I'm pretty sure there will be at least one willing to give me a masculine haircut.

My face is quite round and despite the fact that I've lost 50lbs my cheeks refuse to thin out. I'm not even sure if T will make much of a difference, to be totally honest. I know being able to grow a beard will help though so I've still got hope. I'm hispanic so I know facial hair won't be a problem for me hehe. I already have kind of a 5 o'clock shadow around my lips that you can't see in my pics.

I ramble too much haha, sorry. If anyone is still reading, I'm very grateful. Any tips/advice would be much appreciated! I don't have much fashion sense so I'm quite clueless when it comes to these things. I'm thinking something really short like a buzz cut would be a really bad choice since my face is so round. So what would work?

Since you're not out yet are you looking for a hair cut that is predominately male or that could be seen as either male or female?

If you want something that could be either you could aim toward a "pixie cut" with squared neckline and squared sideburns.

More male you could do a modern take on the classic high and tight, leaving the top longer.

How long/short are you willing to go? I might be able to give more suggestions if I knew hah.

and... I am also thinking of getting my hair cut this weekend. I wanna look like a guy. Since I didn't know what "high and tight" meant, I just discovered if you google men's hair cuts it gives you all sorts of options.

I'm wanna be ballsy and so I'm looking for a male hair cut. I wanna look as masculine as possible. My hair grows really fast so I'm willing to take the risk and go all out.

Tomboy: Do you have a pixie cut in that pix you posted on the passing thread? I wonder if I could pull it off as well then. My damn baby face makes short hair difficult. I'm 23 and I already look young for my age.

I think you'll look good in a short haircut. One thing I did many moons ago was ask a hairstylist for opinions. I got lucky though. You can also look at pics of guy haircuts who have a similar face as you.

It will feel so much better once you get your haircut.

When I cute mine I was surprised at what a difference it made in how I felt.

Looking at your pics I think a short male cut will really suit you. 

I also need a haircut again, my hair grows fast, but I think a short haircut will def help a lot, When I first cut my hair short, I went to someone who never cut my hair before, because I wanted a guy haircut, my old hair stylist makes it feminine (went to her last time I needed a cut cause shes closer), so wasn't to pleased, next time I'm just going to a barber shop. If you feel uncomfortable going to a barber shop, you can go to a supercuts or something and they will be able to cut it short for you since they do guy and girl haircuts.

High and tight is what you'll see a lot of male police officers having as a hair style. Military as well, though their high and tight is a good deal shorter.

I do agree that looking at guys hair cuts and searching for guys with the same facial shape will help. Hair stylists and barbers love pictures. Bring several and ask which would suit you best. Don't be afraid to like more than one hair style.

The one problem you may run into with supercuts and places like it is the fact that not all the stylists remain working there for long. And the quality of their work varies....as do the abilities to follow instructions. I had one stylist that did an awesome job on my hair but unfortunately she moved on and the next girl to cut my hair messed it up even with clear instructions on what to cut and what to leave alone...and tried to taper when I said not to. So just be aware of that.

I have an undercut myself that has (is supposed to anyway...have to grow out what the last stylist messed up) two different lengths of hair and can be seen as a somewhat alternative/extreme style depending on where you live. Personally I prefer longer hair on myself but this style is one I like and is the one that I passed with initially the best.

I had no idea what high and tight meant either haha but I'm glad I do know. I underestimated the power of google. I'm surprised how many sites categorize by facial shape. I guess I shouldn't be shocked, it makes sense.

I'll be sure to post a pix when I get it done. I'm gonna use the warm weather as an excuse, though it hasn't warmed up much yet. I don't wanna chicken out though. I've been longing to do this for so long now. I know it'll be worth all the grief I'll probably get from people.

There's a bunch of salons/barber shops near my job in the middle of my city's gay village. I'm pretty sure I won't have too much trouble getting a masculine haircut. At least, I hope not. I'm hoping they'll be more open minded for obvious reasons.
