Hey ladies,

Quick question: Some of the literature that I have read has included "feminine male" under the trangender category, but then offers little explanation for what constitutes this label. I've also seen the term used here before in various forums and answers, also without explanation.

Obviously, it's exactly what it sounds like. But I wonder if there is a more specific definition for this categorization, and if anyone can explain why it fits under the transgender umbrella.

Thanks.

Male who likes stereotypically feminine things!

There aren't many around cuz people don't give them love and they can't grow into a pretty flower. Note to the world: love your local femme boy. <3 mwah. Especially hot guys. Femme boys may or may not love delicious men. But they probably do. >:3

Btw I don't think that makes them trans... and it is a general term itself...

Labels or categories are not important. Although those labels can help you, do not try hard to fit yourself into a category. All people are different, and you are unique.

Labelling ppl as one thing or another is quite unfitting in this day and age ppl are just being themselves these days but that doesn't give anyone the right to label another as we are all different and unique therefor shouldn't have to fit into society's categories.

Oh, I know exactly what you folks mean about labels and the damage they can cause. That's not what my question is really about. It's just that I have seen "feminine male" used enough times in literature that it appears to be an official term, rather than just a descriptor. I just wished to know what official definition goes with that term; that's all.

I'm trying to educate myself. I figure that it would be helpful for me to eliminate what I'm not in order to better understand what I am. Or as Sherlock Holmes puts it, "Eliminate the impossible. Whatever remains, no matter how improbable, is the truth."

Happy Saturday, all!
Cheers,

It isn't an official term, its just a noun and an adjective.  At least as far as I know.

i don't know i consider someone who wants to be feminine male to be female, but mainly why i like Italian more than English too since no steriotypes in the romance languages which are from Latin.

Almost everything under the "transgender umbrella" isn't official. Even the term "transsexual" amongst transsexual women can turn into a "->-bleeped-<-r than thou" argument.
From what I gather though, a feminine male is a male who is feminine. I personally wouldn't put them under the transgender category, because their actions have nothing to do with whether or not they fit into a binary gender system. Transgender means (in my opinion) that you identify differently than what people would identify you as based on your genitalia.
