I'm no special case on this site, so I'll keep it brief:

I'm 22 (23 in 4 days!!) and a student. I was born female, but my mind never aligned with my sex and it hit me like a steam train one day - 'I'm not just a tomboy. I'm a guy.' I guess deep down I always knew it and it doesn't surprise me one bit. In fact I feel pretty awesome about it. What bowled me down is that I know next to nothing about hiding my femininity and have nobody to turn to who is in this with me.

I recently started the whole crossdressing process - one step at a time, right? This isn't something I feel like I can rush into. Trouble is it's also something of a poor attempt since, as a student, I'm pretty low on funds and can't afford binders and guy's clothes and the like. All I have are boyish girls' clothes and they're not really doing the job. At this point, I don't care what people think of me as they pass me in the street or serve me in a shop or whatever. I feel 200% better about myself NOT having to fit into being just another girl. It's like a huge weight has been lifted off my (stupidly small and feminine) shoulders.

I'm not out yet. I don't think my mum will understand, but yet she'll be understandING. She's cool, but just a little sheltered. I feel really bad for her that she's losing her only daughter, but I'd love for her to be involved in my life as her eldest son. Guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

What else? I live in England. I'm a gamer and massive science geek. I'm also a fiction writer and illustrator.
What do I want from this site? To meet and chat to some cool people - male, female, somewhere in between or questioning - I want you all.

Hey man! Welcome, welcome.

I agree with you about the one step at a time thing, definitely best :) It's great when you take steps to being who you should have always been and automatically feeling a lot better about yourself.

I'm my mothers only child so yeah I guess we do feel bad for our parents especially if we are their 'only daughters' or only kids. I hope when you do come out she takes it well. It can be liberating but at the same time scary to preempt how they will react.

There are quite a few others from the UK  such as myself  :icon_wave:

Hey Chad  :icon_wave:
Cheers for the reply.
I'm dreading my birthday. Birthdays mean hitting the town for drinks with friends I've known since year 7 ... and for me that means dresses. *Shiver* Might be the last time I'll ever wear one so I'll be sure to take a picture for the funnies. I'll feel like I'm in drag, or dressed up for Hallowe'en.

I have a younger brother and he's a typical lad. Feel sorry for my mum being cooped up in a house full of men xD she's a proper girly girl.

Well if you are looking for hands to hold, there are like a million of them here.  WELCOME!  Congratulations on your new found liberation and....well....if you don't want those small feminine shoulders I'd be willing to trade (wouldn't that be cool??).

Also, where can we take a peek at your illustrations and writings?

HAVE THEM. TAKE THEM AWAY. I would trade shoulders and hips and chest with any trans woman in a heartbeat. I'm just keeping them warm for you xD

Unfortunately I don't post fiction or art online anymore. It stays on my computer or pinned to my wall, or scattered around my bedroom. Means a lot that you asked though! Might try and get myself published in 2015 though...
Big changes for Finn in the next few years, I hope.

Well if you ever post them or anything I want to see!  I also can't wait to see the big changes for Finn. :D

Hey Finn! Most welcome!
Haha, exactly then you can look back on it all and laugh and see where you have come! Ah, if it does feel that uncomfortable maybe wear something slightly different? Or be sly and suggest a theme for your birthday which doesn't require you to wear one! Or if it gets too bad pretend you're ill and turn of your phone..but hopefully it doesn't come to that  8)

I always find it funny imagining some poor mother stuck in a house of guys full of pranks and messing about while she's trying to remain calm  :P Does she just give up and join in all the antics?

Lara, I'll be sure to let you know ;) if you've anything to share art-wise or other, I'm interested too.

Chad, good ideas for my party problem. I did consider some sort of theme but I'm naff at planning and only even mentioned a night out to my friends yesterday. Best I can do is do it for the laughs. Go out with a bang and all that, and end my dress-wearing days on a high. By my 24th birthday I'll be somebody else, so a side by side photo would be a really fun thing to keep xD

I'm already feeling loads better about this whole thing, so thanks  you two for making me feel welcome!

We do wind her up a lot. Me and Brother both lay pranks for her (as well as each other) and she just gives us this look like 'One day I'm going to put rabbit droppings in your cookies. Just you wait, kids.'
  •

HumanBeing

Haha that made me laugh man. Well if there's an extra crunch in the cookies or a sharp taste at least you've been warned!

That's true, can use it as a landmark to celebrate never wearing it again, good way to look at it really. Glad I could be of assistance, that's no problem at all. That's what we're all here for; to support each other etc  8)

Thanks Sephirah!
It's dead nice to meet people close to home as well as far away :) wouldn't want to be alone on this little  rainy island.

As I said in the other thread, nice to meet you Finn! Welcome to the site, I've only been here for a few days but already feel like I've become part of the community. If you ever feel the need to talk to someone feel free to send me a PM. :)

Welcome Finn :D

Happy early birthday as well :) I definitely understand where you're coming with being the only daughter. I, too, am my mom's only child/daughter so I know how that feels. But it's great that she'll be understanding :D

It's great that you're taking things one step at a time. It's great better about yourself gradually.

Any plans for your birthday?
---Rhys  :D

Caitlin, I might just take you up on that offer :) same to you!

Rhys, hi there. How did your mum react, if you don't mind me asking? As for my birthday I just plan to hit the town with some old friends. Might be the last time anyone catches me in a dress. Other than that, my birthday will be a pretty standard affair. Thanks for the early birthday wishes :D
