Curious about facial changes on T?

I was curious how people's faces have changed on T and at what time period?

Mine is quite a bit rounder (but I think some of it's water retention).

Did your face become more angular?  How long did it take?

This is me - on the left, pre-T and on the right, 2 years on T:

For myself, I looked just fat and ugly to be honest for the first few months on T.  Then, after about month 5, my face started to flatten out (thin out) a bit and I lost a lot of the puffy jowls I used to have pre-T - fat around my mouth, on my cheeks and under my chin disappeared.

I've noticed that a lot of guys develop (what I see in cismen, too) almost furrowed, thinner faces just below the cheekbones.

Otherwise, my eyebrows thickened and seemed to lose a lot of the arch.  My mouth seems to be a bit different, but I think that's because the fat around my jowls and mouth thinned out.

That's inspiring Kreuzfidel-you look great.

It's good to hear the first few months you were in a fat and ugly phase. That's what I'm in now. My face is round and bleah. But I went out last night and felt good in spite of it.

Yeah, I'm in the fat and ugly stage. ::) My face was actually narrower and handsomer before T, now I just look fat and bulldogish again. Oh well. Doesn't really bother me, it'll go away at some point.

It's good to know someone else is in the same boat and that this is temporary. I feel the exact same way as you. My face was most definitely narrower and handsomer before.  I can wait it out knowing it will go away.

I think my face began changing around 6 months. I did not go thru the moon face thing, that some people go thru.
But some people get a for lack of a better term steroid side effect of having fatter cheeks.
Here's a side to side from pre-T (and a few years younger actually) to 8 months on T.  Jay

It's always great so see how much better people look on T. You seem so much more yourself Jay and I like how your face is now.  I hope I get as good results as you are.

I think the steroid effect is a great way to describe what's happening.

Jay-do you know if the steroid effect goes away for those of us who get it at first?

Thanks Tyran. T has definitely helped me feel at home in my body for the first time ever.

Yes that effect definitely does go away, but for people who get it it might hang on for a year or more.
You might check out "closet transgender" on youtube. He's someone (who is also *extremely* entertaining) who had this effect, and did not know that's what it was. You see that after 2 years on T, he has no effect of it but it was quite pronounced at 8 months.

Thanks so much Jay.  That was helpful. I also tried different google searches and found a couple threads on this board. For some reason they didn't show up when doing a search via this board's search box. It seems that this bloated look I'm sporting is temporary. I'm relieved. I look like pillsbury dough boy right now.

You definitely look at home in your body. I feel more at home too. I look more grounded in pictures now in spite of my face.

Not actually sure what they call this. It does happen early on to some people, but it will go away in time.
I know people who have been on steroids for various medical reasons and they get this look too.

Very true Jay. That's what my face looks like-like I'm on steroids. The weight gain I can handle but the puffy face has got to go. Haha.

Patience I guess. Not much else you can do, afaik.

As contra indicative as this may sound: avoid wherever possible sodium and increase water.

More sodium will only result in your body retaining more water or "bloat" whereas, and as contradictory as this does really sound, giving you body ample water, will actually cause it to release more water (decrease "bloat"). No, you don't have to drink a gallon but you should drink some water at least once an hour or so. Most people are dehydrated and don't even know it. As long as you don't drink a gallon in an hour, you'll be fine. 1 bottle of water every two (of waking) hours would be sufficient.

Substitute table salt (as in, don't even use it) wherever possible with lemon/citrus or my personal favorite, pepper. You won't miss it after the first two weeks. If you absolutely must use table salt, use sea salt (IN MODERATION). Also, check your packaging labels and don't you dare buy anything with more than 600mg per serving of sodium. It's bad, put it back. You can break this general rule on chips and beer (IN MODERATION), but everything else... leave it on the shelf, you don't need it.

This is part of manhood and has nothing to do with certain kinds of T (regardless of where it comes from, it all does the same thing). Avoid the salt and increase your water and you should see an improvement within 10 days (10 days is how often your body completely replaces all of its fluids). In addition, to speed it up a bit, try some natural diuretics (e.g. tea/coffee).

Going from one sex steroid to another kind of puts your body in panic mode for a while, you just have to wait patiently for it to adjust before things like this will calm down. It's just the nature of the beast and there is no avoiding it. Kids go through the exact same thing... they get plumper and even fatter, before they start getting their growth spurts and have these things gradually regress... its the same thing for us, sans the linear bone growth. It will go away, it just takes some time. My grandmother flipped out thinking my kidneys surely must be failing or some crazy ->-bleeped-<-e because I did get more plump in the face and the hands and feet, but that's gone away. Your lymphatic system (including your renal system for that matter) has to also, like the rest of your body, adjust to running on much higher androgen. Once that happens, these effects will go a way. Cause for concern would be if, within two years, they don't. Don't worry about it otherwise.

Awesome advice Magnus. Thanks.  I've been drinking lots of tea and coffee. I need to work on less processed foods though. The lemon and citrus and pepper are great suggestions. I'll try them.

Nygeel

I made a video that documented my changes. I took 2 pictures a week for the first year, the second year I mostly did one picture a week. I tried to keep things consistent so you would see only the differences in me.

Here's some comparison pix, each one a year apart.

Thanks for posting those Nygeel. They are also inspiring! It's amazing how much better and more at home in their body everyone looks. Seeing yours gives me hope to hang in there during the ugly time.

It's weird though but guys keep telling me that I look healthier and better (these are cisguys that I'm not out too)

My chiro says you should drink half your body weight in ounces of water a day.

Hmmm. Well I'm falling short of that. Those are good guidelines. Thanks Alex. I'm going to go have more water.  : )
