I posted this thread 2 years ago when I was so frustrated with my hair that I didn't know what to do. It had been a year since I cut my hair, and it still wouldn't grow past an inch. This was the very thing that held me back from transitioning, because I felt that I wouldn't be attractive at all without a full head of hair. It literally felt hopeless.

This pattern of it not growing kept up until last summer. Then, I actually did something with my hair and got locks done at a salon. Eight months later, it's about 7 inches long :) At the rate it's currently growing, I expect it to be shoulder length by next year ^^

This is quite an unfamiliar feeling for me, feeling so defeated for years by something that you think will never change, but with enough effort and dedication it gets better. Gives me a lot of hope for the future going forward :)

Congrats!!
I am going on 5 months.  Its still short but I am really loving what I am slowly getting.
So does that mean in a few months your going to be offering hair styling tips?

I haven't cut my hair since i was 16 so I've been growing it for 6 years now. But I never had a big problem growing it out. I can't imagine  life with short hair so good for you  :)

I hope it keeps growing!! I will say, the things that have always helped me grow my hair are: 10,000 mcg of biotin a day, shampoo twice daily with a shampoo containing tea tree oil (and follow the directors...lather, rinse, repeat) and condition once a day but leave in in longer, usually while shaving, and again with tea tree. If you have the cash Nioxin is amazing for growing hair faster, if not then Great Clips brand shampoo and conditioner is great too.

Just by doing that I went from a #2 guard to 11in in about a year.

Hair takes super long for me to grow. I have been growing mine since I was 17 and it is now barely below my belly button almost six years later. It is still kind of short from where I want it, but I am shooting for classic length. Just make sure to get the ends cut every now and then and don't get too friendly with flat iron like I did. I only use a flatiron maybe three times a month.

I am just grateful that  I have some hair.  That in itself took two years.     Now if it grows out that is all a bonus.
