I'm hoping to getting bottom surgery in the next year or so & want to start looking into making consultations with various surgeons.
My family is very supportive and due to the change in state insurance policy, I should be most to fully covered for my surgery as long as the surgeon is willing to work with insurance.
I'm on the Connecticut/MA border, but travel is not as much of an issue as the surgeon having consistent results and having a good overall experience.
I'm aware that both Brownstein and Meltzer have a really good reputation as far as bottom surgery results go and have known this for ages... but I was wondering if there was anyone I should consider adding to my list. I did a Google search and am really not finding many resources, unfortunately. I was thinking about browsing through transbucket, but would rather hear some first and/or secondhand experiences with other surgeons if possible.

Maybe you should add Dr. Crane to that list?  It was my understanding that Dr. Brownstein retired and Dr. Crane took over his practice.  I could be wrong though, but I do like Dr. Crane's phalloplasty results.  I haven't had any experience with him, but he's definately on my watchlist if I get a phalloplasty.  He also takes insurance.

Here is Dr. Crane's website and his section about phalloplasty along with some of his results.

Ah, I wasn't aware Brownstein retired...that's unfortunate.
But being he worked with him, I'd definitely check out some of his work more thoroughly.
I think I saw some of his results before and they didn't look bad, except for one person who requested an abnormally large phallus.

I've heard good things about Dr. Crane. I haven't seen results but read accounts from a few guys who went to him and are happy.

It's Connecticut. It's the fifth state I believe to require that ALL state based insurance covers transgender surgeries as if they were any other medically necessary procedure.

I hadn't ever heard of Medicaid covering trans costs and surgeries! That makes me super jealous now haha. My state doesn't cover it yet. Do you by chance have any sites that show information on the topic?
I run a FtM blog where I pour my experiences out for others to read. Check it out!

This is totally derailing my thread, but sure
here  & here are some links.  :P I'm still not sure what the other two states are honestly. Google sucks.

I orginally found out via the first article after there was hearsay about it from a friend. I proceeded by calling my state commissioner after reading the bulletin. As long as your insurance plan is out of Connecticut state (not specifically Medicaid, guys), you would be covered as long as your surgeon also works with insurance companies.

I would go with Dr. Crane because he is a urologist and a micro surgeon.  He also has really good results and a great team.  I have a consultation with him in July for a phallo hopefully next year, I am 28th on the waiting list for next year.

There is another Dr. in the U.S his name is Dr. Leis you can view his website here:

There is also Dr. Harold Reed and Dr. Christopher J Salgado.  I think both of them are located in FL (Miami?).  I'm not sure if they take insurance, but I think Dr. Salgado does.

I might email Salgado because I can't find any of his results from a basic google search. It would probably help if I wasn't on my phone lol

I've already looked at this doctor and in a response asking about how he handles insurance companies, he didn't seem to be a fan.

On a side note, it might help if the cat didn't own the computer.

Wow, that's fantastic, thank you for the link!

Wish my private insurance had covered my top surgery!

In terms of Crane, I like that his training is in urology.  I believe he even has experience in pediatric urology.  I would strongly consider him if I was getting phallo.

There is also Dr. Loren Schechter that does phalloplasties in Chicgo.  I just found out about him.  According to phallo.net he takes insurance.
