So my endo has switched me to IM injections from sublingual tabs. Ive already stopped by the pharmacy and gotten everything, my main question that didn't get answered is this though: do you need to stop taking your sublingual doses for a certain amount of time before the first injection? From what he said it seemed like I could just start right away when my next dose would be. Is this correct? I would just call them but they're closed for the day, do you guys know the answer to my question?

Also, do any of you have any first-hand experiences of switching from sublingual tabs to IM injections you could share with me? Things like differences you felt or noticed, rate of feminization, etc.

Certainly ask your pharmacist and/or doctor.

I suspect you can inject when it would be time to take the next pill, or why would you ever need to take the next pill?

Yeah, I was planning on contacting my pharmacist or endo first, I'm just wondering if anyone here already knows. I took the last of my estradiol tabs this morning so now I'm wondering how long to wait before injecting.

No problem waiting until morning, if you are concerned.

The rush of an injection will trump any tiny pill you have ever taken. It should all even out by the time you need to inject again.

Again, not a doctor.

Also, these are some pretty scary needles when you're holding them in your hand, lol.

as far as the prescriptions go, how much do the injections cost as opposed to the tablets? The estradiol I take now is dirt cheap, and I'd be afraid that the injections would be super expensive...

In past discussions in my TG group, there is a big variation in how E hits you and the long term effects. Pill, vs, Patches, vs Shots. Even the type of E. Everyone had different experiences.

I prefer shots since they are easier on your liver and I take a lot of supplements each day. A lot of pills. Almost a meal for me. Patches make my skin raw. Needles in your hand aren't as scary as when you try to jam it into your leg    Some days it takes me a few minutes to work up to it and that's 5 years from teh first time

Since EV is thick and oily, be sure to get needles big enough. 18 ga worked for me.

OK so I got the go-ahead this morning/afternoon from my endo. I injected myself in my thigh with a 23g 1 1/2" needle. It was way less painful than I thought it would be.

But, feeling myself sticking the needle in - not the very slight pain from my thigh (more of a pinch feeling), but the feeling my right hand was sending me as I drove the needle in - creeped me out. I've never given anybody a shot, except myself now. Sort of surreal to do it to yourself lol. I was sort of shakey after I was done, for a few minutes, from my nerves.

I've had very little soreness from the injection site, luckily. So weird to think my meds are just sitting there in my thigh.
