Surprising HRT effects

Wow! I REALLY envy you the facial hair and voice; both of those were excruciating and took *forever* to get fixed up for me.

The main "surprising" effects, I'd have to say, were visible breast growth and bouncing and soreness by day 5, and the fact that my feet are now about a half size to a size smaller (all the cute shoes I bought pre-transition don't fit, darnit!). I think all the rest was expected and arrived roughly on the expected timeline.

Melanie : Personally, I think that age doesn't matter, within reason. :) We get what we would have gotten... just maybe slower at a really advanced age, but it'll still get there. (Except for the awful fact that later in life testosterone has another chance to permanently change the facial *bones,* which later HRT won't fix.) I started at 32 and haven't been misgendered since six months into it.

I noticed a lot of effects within the first month, but now nothing. My nipples were very sensitive, but now they are not bad at all. I had to wear a sports bra to protect them, but I find now I'm find without one. It is like one step forward then one step back. :(

Yet, to stop whining about the lack of effects of HRT, I'll share my most surprising effect. My sense of smell has gotten a lot more sensitive. I notice odors that I have never smelt before and the ones I use to smell are now stronger. I love it! I burn my oils more frequently now because they are so much more enjoyable. :) Also, since my sense of smell changed my sense of taste has also changed. Food just has a lot more flavor now. Chocolate melting in my mouth feels better then sex!

Girls,
All I can say is WOW! You are making awesome progress.

I'm waiting on a call from my endo (my therapist took care of everything) o schedule my first appt. I'll be starting HRT soon and if I fare half as well as you ladies, I'll be doing the happy dance!

What do you think my chances are at 40?
Well, I'm 49 Melanie and you've read my changes above at 3 months, 2 weeks, & 4 days in. I'd say your chances are excellent. Just wait until you feel the energy surge that happened to me about 3 days in. You'll feel young again despite your age.

I don't know if I'd call it that, lol! I think in my case I have my extra x chromasome to thank for holding my feminine features through the years and why my hrt has been going so well even though I'm only 3 months, 2 weeks, and 4 days in. However I have seen phenominal transformations of girls in their 40's. So unless you currently look like Shrek, lol!, don't worry you'll have great results. Just remember when your older the "mones" sometimes take a little longer to do their thing. Alot of it comes down to your genetical makeup. Your Endo will adjust your dosage after three months or so after your first bloodwork. I will tell you this, my boobs started getting sore after the first week, and them getting bumped in any way will make you jump back quickly. It's an awesome feeling though because this means they're growing. In fact, I have a 64 year old TG best friend who's been on hrt just a few days longer than I, and she already fills out a C cup nicely.

So continuing 8 weeks in:

To my dismay, I'm starting to notice my interest in science fiction and action movies waning. I mean serious mindfk. I look at my blueray collection with curious antipathy.

Grand Theft Auto V doesn't seem to have that awesome you gotta play it spark anymore. Another mindfk. I mean this is GRAND THEFT AUTO V

Enough to be an HRT deal breaker? I don't know ppls...

38 here.

I am pleased as punch with my results thus far. Hundreds of tiny differences add up to some profound change. Hormones do not do everything, transition takes work but it sure is rewarding!

I have a totally dry orgasm now :) .

I have long periods of pleasantness; I think it is 70% of the time.

Hmmmm, after how many months does HRT make you less aggressive in rush-hour traffic, LOL ??  I'd welcome that!

I was wondering the same thing lol. I was thinking "wouldn't that great if HRT helped reduce road rage?!" lol

My endocrinologist was scare about my liver so my dosage went up very slowly. Every time the dosage went up I got a 2 weeks blitz. 2 weeks with plenty of bad side effects and pain in my butt/breast, having greasy hair and acne. Then everytime after this 2 weeks I looked more and more like a girl.
In my case very very low doses my breast started to grow and on half doses I wasn't able to gain weight whatever i ate. Now on full dose my hips has gained few inchs and my waist got a little thinner. My face has become very feminine over time and my neck hair has become blond and short.

Everybody seem to get different results.

For the aggressivity and rush-hour in my case it stopped when my hormones became stable. Some seem to stay like this forever :) .

Oh I'm just a happy go lucky driver now. Never speeding or getting in a hurry. I make sure I leave the house in plenty of time to get where I'm going. Another thing, When I was young I used to enjoy going for a lesurely drive, however ovjuser the years I'd grown to hate driving and traffic. Now I noticed how much I now enjoy driving again. Which, I must admit I find quite pleasing to say the least. My hrt has calmed me considerably with regard to other people. Oh I'm still a little ball of restlessness who has a hard time sitting still or at idle, but I'm much more accepting of the people around me. :icon_flower:

I feel your pain.  My horror collection is screaming to be watched, deal breaker no but I hope my spark comes back soon.  Since starting hrt I've found I'm running the emotional spectrum at a lighting fast pace. I go from happy to annoyed to upset to crying to happy again in the matter of minutes.  I'm also more talkative and at a faster pace when I'm excited (you can still hardly make sense of half the things I say thou). Finally I'm way way more touchy feely then before

As far as my SciFi and horror Movies I still love watching them and do so. In addition I still loooove building my own gaming computers and am about to assemble my fastest yet. I'm an active Star Wars: The Old Republic online RPG player and play whenever I can, I still love my 21 foot bass boat & bass fishing, and my 8" lifted 97 Ram ext. cab 2500 truck with a V10 running on 37's (you should see the looks I get when lil ole me steps down out of my truck at the boat ramp, gotta luv it!). But likewise I am very emotional, looooove shopping, shoes, pink, purple, summer dresses, cami's, shorts that show off my legs, gossipping, girl talk, Love Stories/movies, my collection of dangler earrings which I love wearing along with other jewlry and accessories, a good mani/petti, getting my hair done, and just being a girl. I try not to let society's stereotypes dictate to me what I should like and dislike, or do and can't do just because I'm a 5-5, 117 lb girl.

Oh don't get me wrong I still love horror I've just found I can't seem to find the energy time will to watch one of my dvd's. Coincidence or just the death of horror in Australia at the moment, (hopefully someone resurrects it soon). As with societies rules about what one should do for their gender or age. Didn't follow them as a child not going to start following them now.

Two years low dose hasn't helped me. *lol*
Then again, Sydney drivers seem to think they're driving dodgem cars.

I'm about 8 months & some nice changes are finally occuring. Breasts are definetely larger, b cup, body hair is greatly reduced, my completion is much smoother, I'm so much more calm & confident in myself. My face may be softer, hard to tell. All & all my body is certainly more female I feel very good about myself.
mtF, mid 50's, always a girl since childhood, HRT (Spiro, E & Fin.) since 8-13. Hormone levels are t at 12 & estrogen at 186. Face lift & eye lid surgery in 2014. Abdominoplasty/tummy tuck & some facial surgery May, 2015. Life is good for me. Love long nails & handsome men! Hopeful for my GRS & a nice normal depth vagina maybe by late summer. 5' 8", 180 pounds, 14 dress size, size 9.5 shoes. I'm kind of an elegant woman & like everything pink, nice & neet. Love my nails & classic Revlon Red. Moving back to Florida, so excited but so much work moving

I also get my lady juice via shots... and the mood swings and sensitivity surprised me.. I am use to it now.. I am over 3 years on hrt

I also reacted straight away to hrt... soreness within 2 days.. I actually matched my mothers breast size.. a D cup, but I do wear a 36 band, where my mother wears a 34.  There are aunts in the family with bigger, so i may got some of genetics from there.

Enjoying ride the hormones are giving me... finally becoming the woman I always knew I was

Come to Florida USA during the snowbird season (wintertime), the experience might make Sydney drivers appear normal, lol!

We get a lot of people from NY City and New England who come down to spend the winter. Problem is, back home they rarely drive. An Example: It's like driving among a bunch of half blind people. :icon_flower:
