Just told my only male friend, he just said, " Do you mind if I consider you a sister I like instead of the brother I never had?". I love him and his wife and was so afraid they wouldn't accept, they both just hugged me and asked what they could do to help. Holy wow! I am walking on feathers on pillows on clouds! We drank a lot, and yes he picked on me, but not crude or rude. Got him back though. End of the night, I was playing base, she the keyboard and he pulled out the violin. When he laid the bow on the strings I said, " Finally something long and hard I can get excited about! ". The look on his face was priceless!  She just said that he deserved it.
She is curled up with her head on my lap. He is getting us a black velvet. Tomorrow I may want to purge after eating too much or fret over my family,  now I am content. Let tomorrow take care of itself.
Night sisters.

That's got to feel wonderful. I remember that I never felt like I had friends until I came out and could be myself. I love that you posted this response. And your friends should be commended for their humanity. But I look forward to the day when a post like yours generates the response, "Well, duh. What did you expect? What kind of animal would make you feel bad for being yourself!!!"  :)

Best wishes on your transition.

Omg I'm so happy for you I'm crying right now reading this...  :)

True friends, the ones you can count on no matter what, are invaluable.  May we all have people like them in our lives.

Congratulations!

Awwww. I'll have to do something about the "sweet" reputation.  ;) But thanks. The Pretenders work in so many ways. I think I once posted elsewhere that all women have "Brass in Pocket". Don't be afraid to use it.

To be welcomed by those you love is the greatest gift I know of.  I am walking a little bit lighter because of you.

GO HUN! WALK ON CLOUD NINE!

Short of going full time and not having to live 2 lives anymore, coming out has to be one of the best feelings I've ever experienced.  Yes, even when people reacted poorly, it just feels soo good to finally let go of that heavy and burdensome secret.

Love you hun, keep strong!

That's wonderful, Mikaela!

I just had a similar experience with the mutual best friends of my wife and me. "We don't care if you're a guy or girl, single or married, we love you just the same, both of you." It truly warmed my heart, and very quickly we were smiling, joking, and laughing as though nothing at all had changed.

True friends are worth their weight in gold. Happy for you. :)

Cheers,
Teg

Out of all the good, close friends I've ever had, only one has dropped me, and we hadn't been close in at least a dozen years, but he's a right wing Christian zealot and would probably stone me outside the Christian church he attends. I think you'll find, Mikaela, that when it comes to friends and relatives, most will see you as still the same person, just happier and better equipped to handle life. Many of my friends already knew and the few who didn't simply realized that this was the missing piece in the puzzle named Miranda (Randi) Thomson. All of them who didn't know that I'm transsexual knew I was unhappy and some, desperately so. Your other friends, once they know what it is that's been bothering you for as long as they've known you, will realize how everything now fits. They'll soon see how much happier you are once you're living as a woman and/or on HRT and they'll often be happy for you. At least, that's what my experience has been like. Good luck with the rest of your family and friends. God bless you, Mikaela! Hugs, Mira
