I am interested in having both GRS and BA surgery done at the same time and wonders if anyone has any experience or insight into the advantages or disadvantages of having both surgeries on the same day, or same hospital stay.  I am 95% sure I will use Brassard, but anyone with experiences having both surgeries from other doctors are welcome to comment as well...Thanks!

I strongly do not recommend it. SRS is hard enough with 2 good, arms... I wouldn't try it without them to help move around.

I don't have any first hand experience but I do know a girl who had both done at the same time and she was in total agony. It wasn't brassard who do the surgery however so I am not sure how it may go but I do know it will add to the self care regimin for a bit as you wont only be dealing with dilation alone you will also be dealing with grueling massages that border line as self torture. Of course if you are a masochist than this would be fine. I would offer my opinion of waiting till after surgery a bit before having ba . The first reason is recovery, the second is additional growth. I noticed a startling amount shortly after.

You'll be using the strength in your arms to help take weight off your bum, especially repositioning yourself in bed for dilation, also holding dilator in one position for long periods, washing yourself etc. The chest muscles will be very painful for the first week. I never did both at the same time.

As the others have said, my arms and upper torso were sooooooo necessary for achieving any degree of comfort during my GCS recovery that I almost believe I would not have survived if I had had BA at the same time.  If you have someone who can bench press twice your weight and who can be at your side 24/7 for 90 days you may be able to make it with both, but I am sceptical about that.

Also, on Estrogen only, I have had a growth spurt at 4 years of boob development.

I had a BA with my second FFS and I couldn't move properly for about a week because my chest muscles. Hence I wouldn't recommend a BA with a SRS.

I would sure like to minimize my number of surgeries and total recovery days as well, but a GRS and a BA at the same time sounds absolutely BRUTAL.  I know a plastic surgeon who has done BAs while another surgeon does the GRS, so in theory it's totally doable.   I don't think I want to find out the hard way though.   Having spent a week in the hospital after major abdominal surgery two years ago, I don't think I could have pulled myself in or out of bed if my chest was killing me as well, and I suspect I would have needed more recovery days overall.  Being ambulatory ASAP will get you discharged fastest.

Anyway, I'm still trying to figure out what order to do things in and when the best time to get them done is.  I theoretically get my "walking papers" in March, but I'm not sure if I'd want to do that or the face first.  I've only been on a transitioning dose of E for 4 1/2 months and don't even start progesterone until next week.  I'm not even a 'B' cup yet, but still have hopes that I won't even need a BA in the end. 

I did both srs, ba, and lipo on the same day. I had no issues. Personally I would think it is wise since recovering from surgery sucks so why not limit the number of recoveries.

I will also say I got ffs as well a year later. That recovery was miserable! Not painful just miserable and made the other surgery recovery's seem like a cake walk.

HI ... It looks like the vast majority do not recommend it, but I had both done at the same time 27 years ago.  (Wow!)  Actually, it was the 2nd BA ... The first was from flat to "B", then we did the SRS (or GRS if you prefer) and a "D" size BA on the same day.  I woke up amazed.  Groggy, but still excited.  I did need help getting out, getting home ... If you're all alone it might be more difficult.  If you have a helping partner, it might be OK ... It was for me, but I knew what to expect with the BA portion since it was my 2nd go-around.  My reasons were that I could not be away from work forever, there are still practical considerations for all of us!  Good luck and good sailing!  Have fun with it ... It's been 27 years, but I still remember the day.  It's an unforgettable experience.

It totally depends on a person. I know I could do it, no problem. My recovery from FFS was nothing like people describe it, I was sleeping for 2 days straight after the anesthesia and running around on the day 3. Frankly, the worst thing about FFS was the inability to take shower for a few days with all those goo around in my hair. I haven't taken a single vicodin. After BA I drove home from Chicago to NY (12 hours drive) the next day, there was only a slight chest pain, like after intense work out.
But that's just me, I'm lucky. You won't know your reaction until you try it.

With the idea of getting all surgeries behind me for once and for all, I signed up for GRS and BA at the same time. However after reading this thread I'm beginning to have second thoughts .
I'll be doing my surgery with Chett and will not be going for huge boobs which I don't particularly like so maybe that counts too. I can't see myself going for anything bigger than 225 to 250cc .
I any case, input from anyone out there who has done the two together would be much appreciated!

Quite often the implant size has a lot to do with an easier healing Donna, however, are you having them done under , or over the muscle, it's an important part to consider, many people think BA must be nothing compared to FFS or SRS, the issue is we all use our pectoral muscles a lot to carry things, get up from bed, to sit down. As your arms make pressure onto the pecs for support. I like someone else above suggested, am of the opinion that if you have a husband or partner with you, then go ahead, he can help you get up, down , etc. Otherwise my opinion would be to wait . But that's only my opinion and like I said, at 225cc implants you may just be ok, even without help. If it's over the muscle, you will certainly be fine with both at once .

I have decided against getting both. The main reason was from comments here but also I want to recover well from GRS and be able to take care of my maintenance schedule.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll be on my own but think I have quite a high pain threshold. In the past I have continued to function with 3 broken ribs in my back (hell on earth getting in and out of bed, sitting, standing etc..) and have endured 8.5 hours of facial electrolysis in one session, without any anaesthetic..  🙂 That being said, I'm not (no longer  )  a masochist by nature and far prefer the gentler things in life.
Most likely the implants will be sub-muscular as that seems to be the preferred approach for most people and also because my natural breasts are just a nice size A. I actually haven't a clue so this was certainly a subject where I was planning to trust the surgeon.
Thanks to another lady here, I hope to be able to get some direct feedback from a person who recently did both surgeries with Chett. That should give me a better feel for what I'm potentially letting myself in for.

I think Cindy hit the nail on the head. I feel it could be possible to have both but if complications do happen you have to have a back up plan to help you keep your aftercare schedule.

Its hard standing before GCS and knowing how huge the aftercare schedule is important to your overall success. Truly a experience that will leave you TIRED.

if this is your 1st big operation, I would recommend "not to do both at same time" to you .. when I had BAS in April, 2009 , I also had my 2nd nose job & chin reduction same time in one sleep .. after I discharged from hospital, I couldn't get up by myself in the morning for about 2 weeks , my mum had to help me, lifting me up in bed in the morning lol ..

and in April, 2010 , I had very bad car accident, which I had to stay in ICU for 3 days and in hospital for almost 3 weeks, my left leg was broken, fractured tendon in my left index finger, broken right collar bone, collapsed lung and few more on my body (I had to do physiotherapy for almost 2 months so I could walk again). Because of this car accident experience I had been through that's why I thought I could do SRS without any trouble ... therefore last year in September, I decided to have SRS with forehead implants/countoured/shaved at same time .. which was nothing compared to my car accident experience.

I have also decided against doing both too, for a lot of reasons but mainly so I can focus on this all important GRS coming up.  Next year my project will be BA, unless somehow I explode with growth after bottom surgery and another 6-12 months on HRT.  I could live with what i have now, as a small B, but on my frame I would like a little more...

This is the answer I got from Chett regarding doing GRS and BA together:

"It make sense to combine SRS and BA in the same setting so that you can avoid 2 time of general anesthesia.
BA is not major surgery and we have nurse team to take care of you.
Dr.Chettawut also commented that the combination of SRS and BA is even less complicate than your previous FFS, he mentioned that you should not be worry."


On that basis, for now at least,  I'll stick to the idea of doing  both together as it does mean one less surgery to organize and most of all, one less convalescence to get through. I already did my FFS in two steps (far too much work to do to get it all into one session.. ) with two long periods of convalescence after each. This time, since I know I'll be out of action for at least two to three months, I'm willing to accept a bit more suffering initially just to finally have all the surgery behind me.

However, if enough horror stories come to my ears over the next few weeks, I still have time to change my mind.

I was going to have ba and srs together I toyed with even up to the time of my srs well im so glad I didnt I struggled to move around as was and still need some support sometimes to get up now.

I know of one girl who had both at the same time while her result is fantastic she said it was hell moving around.

its very important in 1st month, after SRS done, to dilate frequently (up to 6-12 months) & also need to clean inside/outside of vagina properly , it took me at least almost 2 hours in the morning & evening .. also with BA , I had to massage my breasts few times/day too , at least half an hour each time

i knew 1 girl , she had both done together .. she had to hire personal nurse to come to stay with her for one month to help her .. and she said it was so hard to move around
