Jenny mentioned something that got me to thinking.

Might it be possible for folks to mention what hotels they stayed at, any specific facilities they used, how they liked the airline they chose, etc.? That would be a wealth of useful information as others plan these trips.

Or would that be inappropriate for this forum?

Hey Liz,

I think that's a great idea. Since I'm traveling with my partner and we're both cooking aficionadas, we rented a self-catering apartment that was recommended by Yeson and is reasonably close by. The address is:

Phil House, 76-14, Guuidong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul Korea, 143-200.
Tel. +82-2-498-5800, iphilhouse at gmail.com.

But, of course, I can only tell you if it's any good after having been there in April. Our flights are with Lufthansa, which should be OK.

Love,

Amy

Excellent idea.

We chose this hotel to be close to the center of Seoul but yet also easy to get to Yeson. Like Amy says won't be able to give any comments about the hotel till we've been there. The hotel has a shuttle so we're not relying on Yeson to pick us up from the airport or drop us off.

Ramada Seoul Jongno
48-26, Inui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul 110-891, South Korea

Direct flight to Seoul using Korean Air

counting down the weeks and days till we go

Hi everybody,

as our stay draws to an end, I can say that Phil House is highly recommended. They supply nice, clean self-catering apartments with everything you need at a highly competitive price (we paid 60,000 won/night). The staff is extremely kind and helpful. The only nitpick: the frame of the bed could have used some screw tightening, but OTOH the mattress reliably prevented backaches, which I'm prone to. Otherwise: superb. I've shot a few photos so you can get an impression:

i stayed at (inn-the city COEX). it was great, very clean, modern, comfortable, the staff spoke English good enough, and they were very  helpful. it's 2 blocks away from yeoksam station, and about 10 min cab ride from yeson 7000 won.  i highly recommend it. it goes for like $80/night depending on the suite you choose, & all suites have a kitchenette. i flew Delta from Toronto, with a layover in Detroit. the flights were on time, and the service was great, overall a great experience.

Thanks sooo much Amy, Jenn90210 for the photos and recommendations. As I seriously consider this it helps to know there will be decent places to stay while there.
