I finally got my ears pierced today :)

Once thing is for sure it hurt a lot less that when I had my nipple pierced 5 years ago. The woman asked if I ever had anything pierced before and and I told her my nipples. She had just had her nipples pierced a few months ago and we were comparing experiences. I did have to out myself since I had to show my ID (state law for any piercing), and she was surprised that I was trans, but just continued treating me as one of the girls. She asked my I picked Sydney as my name and we talked about other things as well. A great experience :)

My original wedding ring was melted down and the same gold was used to make a woman's wedding ring.

1- A compliment on my tie from the cool boss.
2- Being given free rein on a project from the same boss. (I have multiple bosses.......cool boss, cool VP, idiot boss)
To be or not to be....that is the question

I am soooooo relieved! It turns out, my surgery (hysto) wasn't happening in July - merely the consult (I thought it was 2 weeks before surgery for some reason), and it's actually a 6-8 month wait (sometimes longer) to have the actual surgery. I was so worried I'd lose my appointment and have to start all over, but once I go in for the consult in July, I can schedule the surgery at  a time that is convenient for me. I'm glad because there is no way I would be able to take time off in 2014 for a hysto when I have so many expenses to save for. Fortunately those parts are completely healthy at the moment, so for now I don't consider this urgent.

Edit: also turns out that the HR departments at my old job changed my name in their system already. No need to disclose old name to new employers. Bam.

An old friend (that's really more like an "honorary cousin") stopped by tonight. I hadn't seen him in several years but it was cool. We got caught up and (obviously) we had a lot to talk about. He's moving down here and he's getting himself together, getting off the heavy drugs he was on years ago, so I was really happy to hear that. He didn't have any issues with my transition (but he saw a LOT of the signs back in the day so it wasn't like he could be surprised by it). There was one instance where he called me 'bro'. I laughed and replied: 'sis'. He laughed and nodded and was like, 'yeah'. It was a simple, innocent mistake and nothing more. It's all good.

So cool Laura, I'm happy for you both!

Told my dad I'm trans, he was the last family member that I wanted to call and tell in person.

All in all went better than I expected, very formal and no drama. It's a big relief, now I can be who I want and not worry about them finding out through the wrong channels.

Next steps, finish my psyche eval, HRT and get on the waiting list for SRS.

Do I hear your melodic tinkle of laughter?

(What made me happy today? ^ This! Thank you, Umiko-chan.)
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

Being transgender is just a phase. It hardly ever starts before conception and always ends promptly at death.

The final version of some artwork that I commissioned is completed. It looks totally killer!

I have an endo appointment next week!  ;D extremely happy. Finally got that referral

That's a cool picture, Laura.
Good luck, Umiko.

My exam went really well. I had to guess for a couple of answers, but overall, I knew what I was doing. There was a bonus question that was the same as a question we had on the first midterm and I had it memorized.
I got a B in chemistry. Not what I was hoping for, but considering how hard the class is for others, I did darn well.
  •

Adam (birkin)

Good job Victor! University chemistry is generally known as a weeder course, so a B is amazing. I carried a B throughout the entire term, but when I wrote the final, it dropped my grade to a C- or something like that. I just barely passed the final. They flat out stated at the start of term that they deliberately designed the final so that half the class would fail it. Oh, and btw, if you failed the exam you automatically failed the course. Haha.  :'( So you should feel really good about that.

That artwork looks pretty sweet, Laura.
  •

Edge

Thanks, Caleb. Yeah most of my friends who have taken the course have had to do it twice. I like chemistry though, so it's not much a surprise. Next year I'm taking organic chem though.
  •

Adam (birkin)

Organic chem is my weakness. Everyone I know seems to think it's easy, but for whatever reason it has always been a struggle for me.
