  So I am getting more surgery on June 10th (yay!)

  Just wondering, how long does it take to be able to start walking? Walking without pain just to qualify...

What kind of surgery are you getting on June 10th?

if you talk about SRS , for me , it took me a while to walk normally without any pain, maybe 2 months ... but i started driving again after 1 month post-op , of course, i also had to use doughnut cushion everytime i sat in the car or in my house ..i even took my doughnut cushion to sit in restaurants too !

forgot to add : i had 2 surgeries , mid month & then end of the month to fix it, thats why mine took a bit longer than others to heal

I'd say I could walk without significant pain, at least in comfortable pants, by about 3 weeks post-op. I got *exhausted* from the slightest effort, though, and you didn't ask about sitting.

At 36 hours I was taken on my first walk by my nursing staff.  The pain came from sliding over the edge  of the bed springs, which I prevented for the second walk 4 hours later by lowering the bed and using a pillow in a strategic position.  I could feel some tugging on the sutures, but not full pain for both trips.  No balance problems to speak of, but I did get tired easily and having something to keep a hand on was great. I did use my power walking pole if I was on uneven ground since balance was still a question for me in my mind, but not in my reflexes.  I was actually walking on some hills in San Francisco and was fine UNTIL I SAT DOWN.  14 days after surgery I was able to drive 75 miles to my home and was able to walk to a restaurant 1/2 mile away with little problem of pain from the WALKING, it was 6 weeks before my special pillow got put behind the others on my couch, and I got back to using hard chairs without padding.  Good signal on full comfort will be when your stitches have dissolved.  It will be two to three months for full stamina to return. 

Im 6 weeks post op and I could walk between surgerys ( dr sanguan) couldnt bend down but could kneel I can walk now okish but feel stiff and some pain as still swollen. Out in thailand I done quite a bit of walking shopping but got tired easily and had to have breaks but its going to depend on you really.

You know, I guess it depends on the definition of "walk." I was up and walking and not in outrageous pain (but there was definitely some) at 18 hours post-op; I answered for the first time I went for a quarter-mile walk and was mostly comfortable.

As for sitting, that danged doughnut didn't actually do me much good, so it was probably 3 months at least before I could sit comfortably on hard surfaces.

Aw that sounds quite tough... well I am 22 and am doing mine with Brassard - SRS.

I forgot about sitting... lol.

I used Brassard as well, so I'm happy to answer any questions I can.
