I've been thinking of what to do for my first post here on this forum. As much as I love to talk about myself, I'm not great at introductions. Other people all seem to be better at makeup than me, so it's not like I have much to share there... Then on friday I got attacked while I was out, and I thought that this might be relevant to people putting themselves in similar situations.

I do go out pretty often during the day just trying out different stuff to see if I can blend in at all. Guys and girls socks are different, so I can't even go shoe shopping dressed like a guy, for instance! At night is when I get to try out scandalous outfits lol. I don't know where else to wear them to. People driving around at night don't seem to pay me too much attention and the other folk on the sidewalk just ignore me. Or rather, we all ignore each other.
I was heading towards a main street, and changed my mind about it and so I turned off into a back street towards my home in a bit of a short cut. I've done a lot of decrepit building photography in this area as it is a bit run down. The whole middle of the street was unlit, like the street lamps don't work there or they never bothered to put any in. I saw a figure ahead veer off into something like a parking lot lit at the end of the road, but I couldn't be sure really.
As I neared it, I saw it was just a grassy area with a fence running into it and open along the side walk. Along the fence walked this guy. He seemed to be a bit hurried. He gets onto the side walk and starts walking behind me. I like roll my eyes, cos I think he wants to get a bit saucy with me. I'm wearing like heels with straps, this super hot dress that totally pulls in my stomach and makes me look like 20 pounds lighter, stockings, and a cute collar. He says nothing as he walks behind me.
Now I hear him run at me, and I like stop breathing and hope he's going to run past. It's weird but all of the sounds of the night dropped away and all I could hear were his foot falls. I can't tell what he did first, whether it was to grab at my purse or if that's just what he grabbed to throw me onto the ground. I think he might have hit me in my face or on my head once. It wasn't much of a hit if he had. He tried to hit me again and I swung my elbow at his fist. I think that hurt him cos he reeled back a bit. I'm still confused about what's going on. It's easier to hazily recall the events than it was to sort them out as they were happening. He grabbed my wrists now and tried to pin them... I've been referring to him as a meth head to my friends. I held him up. He didn't have the strength or weight to push me down and it was at this time that I sort of managed to ask "what the eff" in a decidedly masculine alpha predator type of voice. That's when he jumped off me and ran. Of course my language was a little more harsh!
At this point I can only describe myself as being in guy mode. I took one long quick stride that would have kicked me off into a sprint and was reminded instantly that I'm in heels. All for the best, I'm sure. He was out of breath from the little struggle we had, and I was only excited to get violent on him above and beyond defending myself. Never felt anything like it before. I've never even been in a fight!
Nothing else happened and I regained my wits and composure faster than I would have thought it would take.

In the dark, by yourself, in a "scandalous" outfit is usually seen as a bad idea. I'm sorry you had to run into the reason why. I hope you go with a friend next time and possibly avoid that short cut.

Thats a no no. Ive done it. never been so scarred to be followed in my life. Lucky for me i had my phone on me. phoned my sister before the running. lied said could she put the kettle because im on her street now and could she send her bf to the door to meet me because i was scarred. he ran in the other direction. my house was two more streets away and used that time to inform my sister why i woke her and inform the police i had been followed. my attire wasnt as pravokative and my sister pushed for me to come out to my dad after that

God, I'm sorry you went through that.  This is my biggest fear since starting my transition.  I feel much more vulnerable and frightened of the potential of being attacked in some way. 

That's probably my biggest fears (and one of the many reasons I haven't left my house fully dressed yet), and I'm so sorry that happened to you but I'm very glad you managed to over power this guy before he could do anything worse. This world can be so dangerous sometimes...

I just gotta find some local friends to go hang out with now I guess. I don't really want to take a chance that the next guy's got a knife, or isn't a 20 pound meth addict.

I didn't plan on reporting it. I don't remember enough visual details to have anything useful to say.

Reporting it could cause more patroling for a bit and possibly stopping it from happening to the next person.

Yeah, I'd have to say that was a close call. You're super lucky you weren't stabbed.

Ok, I'm kidding ... sort of..
First, safety in numbers, you know this..  but never, and I mean, NEVER go down dark streets, alone, in ANY mode, guy or girl!!   You know every single girl here will wag their finger at you, saying you should know better!  I'm scared for you, hon, really, you know all too well the headlines you see every day, kids who disappear in broad daylight, from their front yards, or on the way to school, well, you, dressed, would stand as good a chance at surviving as they would.  This time, you were lucky, really lucky.  Be smarter next time, don't make us Go Mommy on you!! 

Go out with friends, or post some pictures. You'll get better clothing critiques!

It's possible they took you for a hapless female, glad you showed them, but be safe.

Once I was attacked by a guy in  car who started to follow and wanted to hit me with his car. I always go run ( in a skirt ) in the dark. For some reason it seems to give me energy. So there was this guy in his car following me and trying to hit me. He was no match because I was running and he was in his stupid car. I could just turn around in a split second while he couldn't move at all.  At a certain moment I came face to face with him. He made a sign like he was going to cut my throat.  To my own surprise I did not feel fear at all.  I actually asked what he exactly wanted and he must have felt that I was just a split second away from dragging him out of his vehicle. So he drove away. Idiot.

This. Or it could encourage the city to puts lights up there.

This is one of my biggest fears... I do not know if I want to dress and go out This really scares me!!!

Really  ... this is something that also scares me  ... do not know if homophobia or simply urban violence will occur to us  ...
