I've been wanting to get this tattoo for years now, I can't even remember how long I've wanted it.  It means an awful lot to me, and I've found a tattoo artist that I like the work of, and I want it as soon as possible.  The only catch is that it's going to be on my shoulder and I'm still pre-T.  I'm hopefully going to be on T in around 7 months time, so would it be worth gritting my teeth and waiting until any muscle growth started to happen, or is it not likely to stretch too badly?  I want it ASAP, but I don't want it to be ruined through my impatience either.

My design:

The sort of size I'm thinking of:

I have tattoos on my shoulders, and I have gained and lost a lot of muscle over the years, and my tattoos have only gone through minor stretching. It's not very noticeable.  I am not sure if this is the same for everyone, but I think it would be OK.

It depends on how small your shoulder is now and how much bigger it's likely to get.

I had a roommate in college who was a football player on steroids, as were most of his friends.   One of them started out pretty small, but he bulked up pretty fast.  We'll just say Mighty Mouse turned into Mighty Mutant Rat Type Thing.

Your design doesn't look like it would suffer as much from that kind of distortion though, but I'd personally play it on the safe side and wait as long as I could stand to.

For the same reasons, I'm not getting nipple rings until they're done growing and decide whether or not to get implants.

Are you planning on bulking up as in bodybuilding?  Because if you're just going to start T and not focus on diet and actual bulking training then it's not going to transform your shoulders enough to warrant any kind of worry.

I agree with Kreuzfidel, unless you're planning on getting wicked serious about bulking, I don't think you'll really need to worry. My father has multiple tats on his body, and he got into body building after getting some of them. They didn't get distorted when he was lifting, and haven't distorted now that he stopped.

Though, patience is a virtue they say, it wouldn't hurt to wait a few months if you're worried about it.

Miss Jessica and Miss Jill,

You two got to be some of the bravest ladies I know. Most cis girls I know would say this, they will never get their nipples pierced.

Thanks Reaver! I don't know if it is brave, crazy or what. I just plan on really enjoying this puberty! The first one, not so much. ;)

I've gone an booked it. I'm not likely to be building loads of muscle outside of what I'll get from my job until after top surgery (I just can't stand gyms at the moment), and there's no way I'll wait that long. Your comments have put my mind at rest though.

I've got a bicep tattoo and it hasn't gone through any appreciable changes, though my biceps have. I'm getting my other bicep done Friday, and I plan to get it even bigger than the other one. I'm going for half sleeves eventually, both with a theme, and I'm planning it all so that if there are large muscle gains there, the tattoos can be altered without people noticing they've been changed.
