Usually only instrumental music can get to me
Lately though, demons by imagine dragons is really hitting home for me.

It's funny you mention that because I find instrumental music to be the most emotional of all.  Like lyrics can inspire you and make you feel all these different emotions, but really it comes down the the music and it's performance.  At least, I've always been the way.

Going by your avatar, I'd assume you're a Final Fantasy fan.  That franchise has some heavy hitters for sure.  VIII and X in particular have very emotional soundtracks.
Someday, the dream will end

K Style Addiction

Right now, the song that give me the feels is Yesterday by The Beatles.
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain, I like watchin' the puddles gather rain.

Despite all my rage, I'm still just a rat in a cage

As a genre, country and choral music does it.

Specifically, "I'm Already There (Letters from Home)" by Lonestar destroys me every time.  I served in the USMC and now my wife and daughters are in New England while I'm here in South Florida because of my job and the job situation (or lack of one) up north.

"The Love of a Friend" I performed this with my HS choir at my graduation.

"An American Elegy" by Frank Ticheli.  A band piece written for Columbine HS after the shootings, it is a beautiful piece that I pour so much of myself into the playing every time I play it (as in perform), I just break down.

I've found that more music tears me up quicker now that I've accepted myself as the feminine person I am, than ever did before.  Though these three have always done it.

The only song that brings tears to my eyes only after watching the video and especially reading the short story that that song is based from is November Rain by Guns and Roses.

There a lot of songs that get me crying. Most all of them are by Savatage. "If I Go Away" hits me hard every time.  :'(  Then there is "Heal My Soul" and "Believe"  i could easily name several more. They are even sadder to me because of the guitarists Criss Oliva having died. He and his brother Jon wrote with so much emotion. Even after 20 years they still get me every time. Also a song called "Save Me" from Globus.

I just listened to the main theme from Schindler's List, and that one did me in.  Also, Trace Adkin's  "You're Gonna Miss This"....I had forgotten about that one until I read through the thread again.

Here it goes...My eyes are misting up just thinking about it.

I wish I could say I was performing here, but I'm not.  Though you might want to turn your speakers up a little for this recording.

Tossu-sama

This used to be a huge cry-fest song for me in the beginning of my transition since I had this unreasonable fear of being rejected by my mom (luckily that ended well and she's very supportive and all).

Especially this part:

Mama, now I'm coming home
I'm not all you wished of me
A mother's love for her son
Unspoken, help me be

Meadows of Heaven by Nightwish.I love the music but feel the songwriter must have had something very sad happen to him to be able to write so many sad and beautiful songs
  •

Marcel

This song is what I listen to when gender dysphoria hits me hard.

In late 2007/early 2008, I was visiting my closest Friend in Atlanta when he played "Hairy Piano" by Moodswings.  It made me cry & he knew it would.  Michael died February 21 of 2011, and for weeks I rode the bus in circles listening to "Hairy Piano" on auto-repeat.   Always reminds me of him.   ♥

There are others,  too...

get out the tissues.

Chelsea Wolfe, "halfsleeper". It's about a couple who are arguing in the car, and get into a horrible wreck. The song is what is going through her mind as she lies dying on the cold road.
