So, today I had emailed a Real Estate agent who runs a local business in the small town where I live. Im not sure if I should have explained my situation to her but Im glad i did. The reason why I contacted her was that I I need a place and I didnt want to experience any hang ups over my gender as I would be filling out the application using my birth gender as the documents i have arent changed yet but despite me having to do that i would be walking into her office fully dressed up and looking fabulous haha I made her aware so that I wouldnt experience any maltreatment because of my gender but she totally ignored it and didnt sound interested, So now im back to square 1! FML.

Ive been dressing full time for too long to dress in boy mode to secure housing. Maybe i should have? Maybe I shouldn't have?

First, I LOVE your avi!  uber-cute!!   Second, I would email her again, saying "sorry, I guess my first email that I sent on (such/such date/time) got lost in the cloud..  here is what I wrote in it, and still need..  "  and copy/paste what you wrote.  Follow up with a phone call.  If you still get no answer/reply, find another agent in that same office and go with that person.  Still no answer?  Write/or -phone- call to that realtors main office, to get the attention of the head agent.  If it's not a nationwide chain (like Remax, or RealtyOne, etc) but with a specific agents name.. like Steven Hawking Realty  <--- (totally made up name) call and ask to speak to that named agent, and say you have been ignored by the agent you tried to contact and you believe it's because of your trans status, and isn't that discrimination grounds?

If you tried being nice and honest, and got dissed because you are trans, it can open an area where the main agent/owner may not want publicity.  Not done as a threat, but done to secure fair housing.

That's what I would do.

Its a bit late now because I have told her I wont be handing in her applicarion form because she clearly ignored trans*issues that I had raised with her, whic i feel should have been addressed. The lady i had contacted is the owner of the real estate and she is the only worker for her real estate lol Small towns haha I will try another real estate and see how i go there. When i can afford it I will be changing all of my documents.

I did contact her when she had initially not responded and politely prompted a reply to my previous email about me being trans* and issues surrounding that. Her reply was one or two lines saying nothing in response to what I had just explained in detail to her but rather she implied that it wasnt important.

Single owner/agent-type office.. ok..  I wonder if the mere mention of a gender discrimination suit would get her attention..
