American Daily
By Rob Hood (08/30/07)

A prime example of this horrific and totally absurd indoctrination program by the far left in the American public education system is as follows:

Freshmen at a high school in Deerfield, Illinois were required this past school year to attend lectures on sexuality given by homosexual, bisexual, and transgender students. The school officials there, required the students to sign a contract forbidding them to discuss what happened at the lectures to anyone else including their own parents.

that commentary is from a reactionary, extremely transphobic newspaper. it's trying to say that transgender students don't have a place in the open exchange of ideas.

is that what you're saying, too?

the "article" goes on to say, of course, that the Left is Communist, i.e., time for them to hate and kill us.

why would you post anything from it?

This place is for people to post news items of interest to trans community. Not all articles necessarily reflect views of the person who posted it. While some of the content might make me want to lose my lunch, I'm interested in reading what the opposition says. As the saying goes, know your enemy.

Sorry;

To clarify, that right-wing, reactionary, blather (specially the use of the word 'communist' as an epithet, made me want to hurl.

For the record, I think that in the competition of ideas and points of view, the way to have ones' position win is to present it better than the opposing view, NOT to stifle the opposing view altogether.  That smacks of winning a court case by murdering witnesses unfavourable to your position.

First off, the confrontation ends here and now. Karen merely equated how she feels about opinions being drowned out and nothing more. IOW, she was not attacking you. If I had felt that she was, I would come down on her as I would any other person here regardless of the moderator status. She would likewise do the same to me should the situation warrant it.

The truth is that we need the competing views. There are people out there who would round us up, deny us our rights, and murder us in our sleep. The way to avoid that is to be aware of their views, their tactics, and learn how to stop them in their tracks. By seeing what they write, many of us could band together and use established research to point out the error of the thinking. Do you realise that this forum is the busiest part of the site on many days? When we get the word out, there are hundreds more who learn how to combat these people.

The "other side" will always have a voice and I will continue to link and quote what they write so that we can all learn to come together. Think of me as a diplomat if you like.

I love news. I love debates. I love research. I do not write the articles, I just link them and this is not the only site and I am not the only person who does so.

Calling my character or motives into question is very unfair. For the record I am far from being far left and no where near being part of the "Right Wing Conspiracy".

That's the end of discussing things about me on this thread as well. We discuss the article linked in each thread and should this one continue to deviate, I will lock it.

oh, i see. ok, first of all, i would like say i am sorry. Sorry! *kowtows first to Karen then to LIT, then first to LIT and then to Karen*

but you see, there were no quotes on LIT's post, and i thought the named source only referred to the link, so i thought that it was LIT speaking in the text on her post.

so really, we're all angry at the same thing, except, i'm an idiot.
