I'm actually in the waiting room right now.. I'm nervous but really excited. On the phone they said it could be a month before I'm on T. I think I'm just doing bloodworm today. I'll give some details on how things work here later when I'm done. :D

QuoteI think I'm just doing bloodworm today.

:icon_yikes:  Cripes -- they didn't make me do that.

Returning to semi-seriousness... I bet you're in there right now, and I hope it's going really well. It's a great feeling to be starting.

Congratulations on getting to this point!

So the appointment went awesome. I filled out some paperwork; basic information, preferred pronouns and name, medical/sexual history. I probably waited 20 min or so to go back, it really wasn't bad. The staff and nurses were all extremely respectful and helpful. Once I was taken to the back I filled out a few more pieces of paperwork, including the informed consent for hormones. I had to initial each bullet point to show that I understand everything that taking testosterone entails. When I was done with paperwork another nurse cam in and introduced herself as the person I will be seeing when I come in for appointments. We discussed my support system and how long I'd been living as male. We went over my medical history and she informed me that I should get my parts checked out (I was just a kid when I got my first and only pap) as changes to my downstairs can make them more physically uncomfortable once you've been on testosterone. So I need to make an appointment for that, which sucks, but it is important. Then she took about four vials of blood. I'll get a call by the end of next week letting me know the results and from there we'll make my first T appointment. So I should be on T by the end of the first week in June. SO EXCITED!!!

Kam, that's terrific! It sounds like you're going to the right place.

Yeah, my doc also insisted on the pap test... and then she followed up when she called me with lab results: "Have you done it yet? Get on it." It was sort of icky, but not too bad in the overall scheme of things. (Then the doc I saw for the pelvic exam ordered a mammogram and a colonoscopy... which I could have done without, but it's nice knowing that I'm clean on all those fronts (or bottoms, as the case may be  ;))

Anyway, congratulations!

Thanks for posting this, I'm probably going to end up going to planned parenthood for hormones, so good to know you had a good experience.
