I'm kind of curious if there is an unwritten rule some where about acceptable distance between ages when dating as a transgender, I know if dating as cis people usually stay within a narrow range and view larger distances between ages with some scorn. I live across the street from a major University and there are literally thousands of students between 18 and 25  all  over the place. I realize for my self even though the desire is there it's not practical to attempt it because I'm so much older. In fact I tried once not to long ago with a cis female and kind of got myself hurt. I'm curious if there are some kind of limits to acceptable age ranges while dating as an open transgender.  I was wondering because there is this young male between 25 and 30 who looks like Paul Walker of fast and furious fame that seems to be flirting. Are standards slightly different for transgender than for cis.

Attraction is attraction Stephanie. The way I see it if both are legal age and accept the age difference why worry about it. I don't think there are any guidelines or anything to follow for this. There was a 10 year difference between me and the Ex and it worked for 16 years. :)

Don't worry about it.  Everyone has different standards and all that matter is how you and your potential partner feel.  As long as both people are consented adults, no ones else has a right to say anything about someone else's relationship.  IF you like this guy and he is receptive, then why not go for it.  And who could blame you for crushing on someone that looks like Paul Walker? lol.  Just follow your instincts and do what you feel is right.

As for my own take on age and dating, I would prefer to date someone in my own age range and probably would prefer a guy who is maybe a little older, just not too much older.  Even though there are plenty of handsome older men who would make great partners, I think I would prefer the age ratio to be closer than not.  No need for me to act out on my daddy issues, lol.  Seriously though, I know plenty of people in relationships with an older/younger partner (both male and female) and it works for them. Just follow your heart as your happiness is what is most important.  Good luck with the search and hope it goes well.  :)

I think the site rules say if your a minor you shouldn't be posting your age, sorry

I am pretty sure the societal "rules" are the same.

there really aren't any rules to this. any restrictions to age differences when dating someone. it doesn't mean that you won't get weird looks if lets say there is like a 40 year age difference.

My rule of thumb is My age +/- 10 years.

I'm 32, now I understand this doesn't work for everyone because of certain legal quagmires.   So, if you are 25 you've no business  messing around with a 15 year old, legal age of consent notwithstanding.

I find the older I get, the less difference it makes. Long as they have reached 'age of consent'.

I don't know about for transwomen.. I've heard there's a general, unspoken rule of half your age plus seven as being an acceptable range. Maybe this is why cougars and older men dating 25 year olds is such a shock to some. I think it's silly though - if you're both adults and the age diff doesn't bother either of you, who cares?  :)

I think if the person is old enough to be your parent , they are too old.
