I will be vacationing with my parents for two weeks and it will be the first time I  have seen them since my wedding over two years ago. Now, I am half a year into transition. I am all kinds of confused as to how I am going to present.

Part of me just wants to dress for comfort, and part of me wants to flaunt what I got. I know they will be a bit uncomfortable seeing me as a female for the first time, so I want to handle it respectfully. But then, I often feel like chickening out and spending the whole vacation in drab.

I know this is my choice to make, so I am not asking y'all to do this for me.

I just wonder if some of you could share your experiences of presenting to your family or SO for the first time. Any advice on how to handle it?

Thanks

I think the best advice I could give is to be proud of yourself. That goes a long way. Ultimately the people who love and care about you want what's best for you. If they see that you're happy with your decisions and can function socially, then the ball is in your court.
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

me personally, I think i would dress like the girl next door, jeans, nice blouse or top, sandals, flats or sneakers..  if its the first time they really get to see/meet Tori, unless they already know, I would think go low-key.. even a sundress might be a bit much.

I wish you good luck, hon!

Thanks. The thing is, I live in Honolulu and I am vacationing on Kauai. So, climate... you know? Sigh...

I hear you all with your advice. I am a jeans and t shirt kind of gal.

They do know... but knowing is one thing, seeing is another.

Yeah, sigh...Hawaii... :'(

Here's what you should do:  Give me your ticket and I'll pretend to be you for the vacation.  Problem solved.

Seriously, I was about to ask the same question - how one dresses when seeing one's parents for the first time as female.  That has got to be one of the most awkward things to do.  My plan was to just dive in head first, dress as I normally would (which is conservative and not particularly sexy), and let the chips fall where they may.  I'm not sure there's a way to break them in gently, although I don't particularly see the need to ram it down their throats either.  Just dress as you normally would around the house or when out running errands so they have a realistic impression of what you typically look like.

Dang, I thot that looked like H1 in the background!  ;)

I did HI trips for 4yrs... HNL, OGG(Maui), were my favs!  Only trouble was, fer us Houlies, It was expensive.. i used to like Oahu most only 'cause it was the only island that had a Dennys.. had to eat cheap, couldn't afford Dukes! ;) never liked Kona, but the "Hollywood tour" on Kauai was cool!    (sigh).. really miss it..
But jeans and t shirt would be fine outfits to wear for them!
