Hi, I don't think I've posted here before, and hopefully this is the right section. I've been on testosterone for almost 6 months (gel for 3, Nebido since then), and apart from this issue, it's gone very well, and dysphroia has gone down a lot. My menstrual cycle hasn't stopped, and hasn't really decreased in volume/length etc. But PMS symptoms have gotten a lot worse, and my mood during is very low. Prior to testosterone, I didn't get PMS, but did get dysphoria over periods. Has anyone else had this experience? I can't find anything on this, sorry if it's already been posted. I just got my period, and I'm due another injection in about a week, but I just feel really down and depressed, especially this month. Does anyone have any advice/tips for dealing with this, because I'm feeling very fragile right now? Please? Thanks.

I can't offer too much insight since I have no experience with Nebido but from what I'm reading about the switching types(brands) ect it can cause the side effects you're speaking about. If you google Nebido ftm a bunch of Susan's place links come up and you can kind of browse through that to see other's experiences.

I'd give it a few more months (and if you can maybe purchase some ibuprofen or Midol to help with the symptoms until your body adjusts)

I know from reading about other's experiences, periods can take months to stop and cause issues while doing so since your body is in taking the new hormone. I've read up to a year for some guys. So just give it a few more months and try to treat the symptoms for now.
I run a FtM blog where I pour my experiences out for others to read. Check it out!

Welcome to Susan's.

I can't really help as I didn't get any periods after a month and got a hysto shortly after. There are some who do get them for a while and I did have some discomfort until the hysto.

I only had one period after I started T, but it was longer, heavier, and more painful than usual.

What are your T levels like?

Hi sorry I don't know the NHS hasn't measured it yet, I'm getting my blood taken next week before the injection though.

I had a few periods after starting T, and they were the bloodiest and most painful of my life. I also had an ovarian cyst burst in that time, and another incident that felt similar to the cyst but that the doctor said was nothing, was my imagination or something. I've always used testosterone cypionate though so it's a bit of a different situation.

I do know if I try to stretch my T by lowering it or if I have gaps (which I did back when it was too expensive) then I get full-blown stereotypical PMS symptoms and bleeding and I get sad. I never had any kind of PMS for most of my life and often didn't even have periods until I was 25 or so.

I would give it time, and if it doesn't aggravate your dysphoria too much you could consider depo-provera or something similar to suppress your period until the testosterone takes hold.

Hi thanks for the replies, I just feel really apathetic and depressed and don't know what to do.
