Do I get married as a "lesbian"? What the heck do I do?

I really think you can get married in Florida. I'd think consistently "passing" is going to help. But I'd call and ask what documents you need. You can change the gender on your driver's license and social security if you haven't already. If you don't consistently pass, then I'd wait til you do. Being read as male, is going to solve that tricky situation of a person deciding you need to prove things more, which might happen in a conservative state.

There are more than a 1000 benefits of marriage, though maybe not all will benefit any married couple.

For every thousand benefits or pros, I have experienced ten thousand cons. Just my experience though which you can tell probably jaded me from the whole marriage deal. :-\ But hey, we all have our preferences and I personally would rather be strapped to an electric chair than get married. I still love weddings though but they just ain't for me. :)

If it was just about love I'd be happy with a ceremony. But I am looking for the tax benefits more than anything. Obviously we are already committed. But I want to be able to put her under my insurance, etc

Go talk to a CPA, not the old regular run of the mill H&R Block people. They will be able to tell you if you can go about making her a dependant of yours and if she can be a dependent regardless of marital status. Also if she is a dependant you should be able to get her on your insurance plan. Nut alot of that will be what you can't and can't do in your state.

The tax benefits aren't always much benefit. You could end up actually paying in more.
