do you think that evolution is heading towards a peak of perfection or will it just keep going?  ;)

Some species, including some humans have not kept up with the speed of the evolutionary process.
For these pathetic creatures, they have evolved to the point nature will allow. I doubt that the semi evolved I speak of, will have changed in even another hundred millenia.
Can evolution save these savages beasts who appear human except in every way that matters, and make them human?
That is the question.

I think everyhing will just keep evolving cause nothings perfect :)

Well, while evolution tends to perfect some species, it also eradicates some.  I am afraid that humans fall into the latter category.  :P

Evolution is about adopting to the environment. Only subjective perception makes things better or worse.

I think in terms of evolutionary theory redfish is correct. There is no end point. There is no perfection. You can either become so specialised that you are in danger of being destroyed when the environment changes or you can be a great generalist and miss out on specialist opportunities.

I think humans have gone off the standard evolutionary route somewhat. We have other mechanisms at play beyond natural selection.

For starters stupid people are having more kids than smart people (though this could simply be a product of education rather than actual intelligence). We are modifying our environment to meet our needs yet at the same time there is a 'class' of people that have more say about that environment i.e. wealthy. More people are able to live with medical conditions that in the past would have excluded them from adding to the gene pool. More people are being born through cesarean when perhaps 'naturally' they and their mothers would have died. Does this mean that in the future we will slowly lose our capabilities as a species to give birth naturally as more people with bad designs live on to pass on their designs? There is the real possibility of genetic engineering.. I'm sure there are lots of other selection pressures going on too that are not exactly narural...Perhaps we are slowly escaping our biology.

But, despite this maybe we are still evolving 'naturally' as a species. My view is that our intelligence is a product of evolution, therefore anything we do is a natural thing. Just because it never happened that way before does not mean it is unnatural.

Biology will adapt as conditions change.  Now that we have some choice in the matter, we may choose to develop technologies to get ourselves off this planet to ensure continuation of our species.

There are too many things that could spell a disaster for our current world.  We could have a meteor, a new plague, or climate change threaten us to extinction.  I know we have the abilities to survive all of them.  That is, if we choose to.
