I'm sharing my jaw & chin recontouring and tracheal shave experience performed by dr Chettawut with you dear users of this forum, as more of a lesson than anything.

Overall, I regret choosing Chettawut. He is an amazing, sweet kind person, his staff is extremely professional, polite and my journey to Thailand was a true blessing. I chose Chettawut as I had this idea in my head, based on my prejudice as well as on what I've read, that him as well as Suporn, two top thai transsexual surgeons, are BEST at shaving Addam's apple, which was my biggest, biggest concern. I have experience getting clocked for it, and it was not a pleasant experience.

I was fully aware that this type of surgery has limitations, you can't just start shaving to your heart's delight, but I was hoping my Addam's apple won't be as visible I presume. It's still very much prominent. (see the pic at the right, I know it's a bit in the shadow, but you can still see my addam's apple when I look straight ahead and don't even move my head)

(click at the picture to see a larger image)

I also did my chin and jaw re-contouring as I wanted it to be done well, perfect actually, and I was thinking, what, apart from addam's apple, is the thing I don't trust other surgeons with. I had a really wrong idea in my mind as to this type of surgery, I was thinking it'll change a bit more in my face, that it'll change my proportions, I had my hopes high, but all in all, nothing changed. Nothing changed because even though my jaw and chin was fairly prominent, its prominency prior to surgery was a mix of bone structure and fat distribution, now that the bone has been shaved, my face shape is identical, but I just have less definition in my face contour, in the sense that You can't see my jaw angle, unless I look up, it's just fat and skin now.

I didn't look at jaw and chin contouring as a feminising surgery, as then I'd appreciate lack of contour in this area, it's much more common in women, but I looked at it as a beautifying surgery, wanting to achieve the V-shaped jaw & chin.

Here I'm lifting my head up as well as bringing my jaw and chin slightly forward to reveal the outcome. It's minimal. It's really minimal, and I was hoping for more.

Now, some positive aspect, lol! My chin. From a square, quite bulky chin it went to softer, less pertruding, U/V-shaped chin. It's only visible when I smile though, which was my concern, my smile is ruined by two things a.) my chin b.) my nose. I am quite happy with the outcome, but I said to the doctor, as well as showed him pictures, where I pointed out I want a V-shaped chin, and to be honest, I don't see much of a difference in my chin and chin of other of his patients... I have to have a look at his website one more time, but I'm pretty sure they're identical, which means my point was ignored.

When I lay down, i.e. all the skin that usually is around my jaw and chin goes up, and you can truly see the bone structure, I can see quite a big change, but don't get your hopes up, when I look straight ahead I look literally the same, the change is minimal as I mentioned.

And here the front pic:

The final thoughts:
If I could turn back time *cher voice*, knowing Chet wouldn't remove my entire Addam's apple, and my jaw&chin is not gonna be as spectacular as I thought, I'd choose either dr Bart from Belgium or dr Cardenas, being really pushy about carving a V-shaped chin. Plus they're SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper.

Good luck!

I think your opinion might change on the result?

I hope so anyway. if you look at bart de vans site his work is soo similar, I doubt he could have done much different, same with most other ffs surgeons, they would likely have done the same... does anyone agree? Even in ousterhouts book of all his before and afters hes done, youd probably get an alsmost identical result as you have.. hope I can reassure you.

And your lips look perfect but if your really striving for a V shaped chin, you could enhance your lips - by making them bigger you decrease the distance between the bottom of your bottom lip and the bottom of your chin, perhaps creating a bit more of a point? just a thought.

Oh and sorry for posting again but keep looking at the pics and thinking.

You say the change is minimal, all surgeons will correct the dimensions of your whole face to that of a female. Your chin height if measured is probably perfectly in female range, maybe he didn't need to take anymore off?

When was the operation? Skin and soft tissues takes more than a few days to restructure itself. The internal muscles and fascia do not instantly adjust to changes in bone structure.

With the Adam's apple - have you been through intensive voice therapy yet? It was my biggest fear as mine used to be very prominent. It's still noticeable in strong light - but it did move on it's own as part of therapy. Tightening the internal muscles changing neck and head posture and learning to walk straighter. All these have helped so much that I won't consider shaving now. Again as others said give yourself time - months - not a couple of weeks. Then make a fair update to this thread - perhaps you still feel the same. But those photos seem to show you looking great anyway.

eeeer are you not satisfied ?im seeing an amazing change...

Chin is fine, not exactly what I wanted but it's good. When I look straight ahead there's no difference in my face.

Agree 100%. I didn't say Chet did a bad job, or that I'm not satisfied, I said that I had wrong mind-set before going to have this surgery. I over-estimated the change that will happen, I was thinking I'm gonna look quite different, but all in all, I look identical. My points was, I could have just as well chosen dr Bart or dr Cardenas, as the change is so minimal, I didn't need a top ts surgeon to take a good care of it.

Thanks so much for your input angel! I am thinking of lip-enhancement actually :) I should keep you posted.

As I mentioned, I didn't say my jaw and chin is masculine, I didn't say it makes me look like a man or look not passable, I just want other girls not to approach this type of surgery with the mindset of a siginificant change, all plastic surgeries revolve around minor changes, that can contribute to a different look overall, but on its own, there's no change almost.

I've trained with Finding your female voice by Andrea James. When you speak, your addam's apple moves slightly up, but that's about it. I still get clocked for it. Problem is, I got quite a thin skin, and my larynx is very smooth on its own, so it's just this Addam's apple that people see.

The skin re-adjustment is not gonna happen, purely due to gravitation lol. I can see my cheeks and the fat on the sides of my face literally pull the skin down, overhanging over my jaw, which acts/looks as a thing that makes my face look as it used to, the difference being I had bone where I have fat/skin now.

CrowCrow , two things, one you are stunning, second I agree totally to what you are saying that when we get FFs we shouldnt envisage a total change, its usually a subtle changes, to have a huge transformation , I think fillers in lips and cheeks would be best

Crowcrow, I think your result is great. Dr. Chettawut did as much as possible there. You had a very feminine jaw and chin to begin with, I would have been happy with them as they were. There wasn't too much room for big changes.

Did you know my sister is a genetic girl, has an Adams apple, and has never been mistaken for a guy? True story.

Thank You, as I said, I looked at this surgery more as a beautifying one rather than feminising. When I smiled, my chin was awful, now it's a bit better.

Well, good for her, I'm happy she doesn't go through what I have, as it's awful. What I face because of my Addam's apple is making me suicidal, and best part of all? I'm not even going out that much, could You imagine if I actually had friends, was going out to parties and stuff? The amount of hatred I'd receive would literally push me to the verge of killing myself. And here I am, 2 tracheal shaves later, still clocky.
