I'm 2 weeks post-op today, and things are healing slowly but surely. My right side is pretty good, no swelling or bruising really, and it's pretty soft to the touch all along the incision and around the nipple. My left side was swollen pretty bad from the ace bandage i wore the first week, and the swelling is subsiding. I noticed a hard spot right above the incision closer to my pit just a few days after surgery. There's no discoloration and it doesn't hurt to the touch. I noticed last night it's pretty hard along the entire incision and up a little bit above it. Again, it doesn't hurt.
When I spoke to my surgeons nurse a few days ago about how long to stay binded up and she said to watch out for reddness, random swelling, and hard spots. I left a message for her to call me back but just wondering if these hard spots are normal?

I think it is good that you called her for your own piece of mind, but I bet you that everything is ok.  So many weird things seem to happen with the healing of our chests.  Everytime someone gets their surgery you hear of something weird that is happening with them that you haven't heard before.  I bet it is all alright, but good you called, just in case.

This is why I'm glad people post about both the good and bad of what they go through. It teaches us all.

She said its probably scarring. I know its common on the incision line for hardness to occur, but this goes up about an inch and is probably the width of three fingers. I hope its just swelling on top of some scar tissue. I don't want to get all worked up because I know I still have a few weeks before I'm healed up, just crossing my fingers I'm not going to be left with a lump of scar tissue above the incisions.

I understand once the scars are closed, one can start massaging the area to help reduce the scar tissue. I think it has something to do with distribution of collagen fibers that make the scar tissue. Either way, a lil rubbin' couldn't hurt Just be gentle and trust your bod-piece when it says that's enough
