Millennials (Who are already the majority age-block and won't be full-strength until 2020) and Boomers ready for a showdown?


I think so.  The economy tanking about the time about half of all Millennials--currently ages 12-35--to enter the work force but unable to find suitable work suggest Medicare, Social Security, among others will become insolvent and will have to face drastic cuts or literally bankrupting the nation.

The problem is the problem(s) have been brewing for decades at best with each generation (sic) putting it off a little longer because the fear of change is greater than the problem. The war on everything, petrol-chemical dependency and social inequality didn't happen overnight and won't be solved in the next 10 years either.

Don't think it is so much of a generational war, more of the realization that 'there is no such thing as a free lunch' by some governments.

Now everyone wants to be the King/Queen,  but sooner or later the treasury runs out of money and we can't just go and raid the adjoining Kingdom for more gold.

Governments can try and fix this problem that has been brewing for the past few decades, place it in the too hard basket,  treat it like political dynamite and leave it for another government.  Or treat the budget like THEIR OWN family budget make some tough calls now so we can afford to pay the bills next generation. A difficult call now can save you a horrendous call down the track

Oh quite the opposite.

Millennials are already the majority vote by age, we won't reach full-strength until 2020.  It isn't we who are in for a rude awakening, it is Boomers who are bracing for impact.  Prior to 2012 elections the Boomers were and have been the largest age-voting block.  That demographic--among others--as been stripped from you.  Millennials are the new voting block, will continue to be the voting block, and will in the future heavily swing elections and candidates.  Make no mistake, these benefits NOT afforded to Millennials are DOOMED.  It isn't Millennials that have to adjust, why should we?  We are the Majority.  It is Boomers who will have to adjust to not being the majority.

Also, let the record show that Boomers got a Post-WWII America, handed to them on a silver platter I might add, who was the worlds largest manufacturer and worlds largest lender, and turned it into the among the least productive countries and the world's largest debtor long before Millennials were born, much less vote.  I won't even get into National Debt, I'll save you that embarrassment.

There are always differences amongst generations, with a wide fuzzy area of some members of older generations still adapting and some members of younger generations adopting older ideals.

This balance has not changed, there is and always will be a tug of war going on regarding the progression of the global culture.

There is also the big elephant in the room that a greed based economy doesnt work, but fixing it depends on the evolution of the global culture.

While I understand your overall sentiment I'll have to respectfully disagree.

Millennials are going to reshape the nation and part of that reshaping is the LGBTQ community.

Oh no, the playing field is so much different.  Millennials are unique in several catagories.  So much different that the political landscape has of yet to catch up to them.  Republican and Democrat alike.   The days of pontificating from a podium to like-minded people were officially over in 2012.  The traditional methods of communicating political ideas are dead,  social media is the new podium and Youtube is the new pundit.

These podiums and pundits are without political, religious, or traditional mediums.  The actual, global, and instant exchange of ideas and politics across national lines is finally possible and neither Democrats but moreso Republicans don't know how to handle it.

Millennials are going to shake the political foundations of this country to it's core.

You aren't taking into account certain perimeters.   Size matters in politics.  Gen X (you) was considerably smaller than the Boomers and you have much in common with them.

Millennials are a beast of their own.  Completely different than both in every single quantifiable way.  We are the most educated in American History, we are--by far--the largest in American history, we are--by far--the most socially liberal than any other generation, we are--by far--the least religious of any generation, we are--by far--the most libertarian generation, and we are--by far--the most unemployed or underemployed of any generation.

America is going to be stuck with a ->-bleeped-<- storm of unimaginable consequences by 2020 when Millennials are felt in full force.

You forget to factor in the biggest force in political change.

Voting has a tiny impact on politics, the big decision maker is money, and as long as that is the case, the super elite will call all the shots.

The battle ground is through civil disobedience/activism/protesting/social networking Vs Super rich elite

These are however both categories that are not defined by generations.

Some members of the newer generations will get super rich, and many members of the older generations are actively involved in the activism side of the fight, be it through direct street action, the spreading of information or through other means of visibility.

There is no benefit to categorize groups in the manner you are doing so. The goal should be unity, not division.
