Trans-cending preconceptions: Thought-provoking new photo series celebrates the lives of trans-identified and gender nonconformist individuals

A photographer has captured the stunning portraits of a diverse collection of trans-identified and gender nonconforming subjects.

Rhys Harper, who is based in Syracuse, New York, is hoping his project, entitled Transcending Gender, will help to shift people's perspective on the subject, specifically those was are unfamiliar with transgender issues.

'This project seeks to show the world that we, too, exist, and what we have to offer the world transcends the boundaries of gender', Mr Harper tells MailOnline.
