I actually was in the parade yesterday with the folks from the Los Angeles Diocese of the Episcopal Church, and while I was only one of three people out of 80 in our parade unit who was Trans*, another is a Trans* Male minister who was our preacher at a Communion service we had before the parade began. As we marched by one place where there was a group of "God Hates Gays" folks, one of the people in our group yelled out the folks on the other side that before beginning our march we had had Breakfast (the Communion) with Jesus and everything was cool with Jesus and His Father and the rest of us. I heard that comment going through the crowd from where I was.
There was indeed some good Trans* representation both in the parade and at the festival at the end of the parade route. Several Trans* groups got together and set up a good sized "Lounge" with some comfortable chairs and couches, and electric fans, since our weather was HOT there. Surprisingly there were a whole pile of folks whom I know there, and it was fun to hug each other. I also ended up with a even dozen of condom samples!! I suppose I can put them in my hope chest, but right now, my dilator is still disease free, and I am too old to get preggers. Sigh!!
