If theres any religon that represents what i believe the most its probably Buddhism, but then again Buddhism is more of a lifestyle than a religion.
But to put that to one side for the sake of this discussion, if what SBC supposedly believes was the accurate version of heaven and god and what its sinful and not, i can honestly say i wouldnt want to have anything to do with it. Why? Because their version of heaven would be my version of hell. Such a god also wouldnt really be classed as good either, lets not forget how once upon a time they tried to argue also that the bible is pro slavery. I would seriously suggest that they may actually be worshipping a vengeful god, one much closer to the idea of satan. I dont see how a good god that asks for compassion, empathy, love and understanding would be for the stuff the SBC seems to claim is the word of god.
But, you know what, to bring back what i believe, if you live a life of mindfulness, understanding, compassion and unconditional love, regardless of what may or may not happen after death you should be set. If there is a truly good god, and some form of heaven, such a being wouldn't have any problem with you, if they did, they wouldn't be good.
Whats more important, is to focus on this moment, because this present moment is the only one that exists, if you live your life thinking, wait till i get that qualification till i can really live my life, you will then think, wait till i get that job till i can really live my life, then after that you will think wait till i get a house and i can really live my life, then a car and so on, till the point that you were never really alive at all in your whole life. In order to be alive, you need to focus on the present moment, allow yourself to see the beauty of now, the beauty of the sky, the air you are breathing, the sun on your skin. You dont need to be anywhere other than the present moment to enjoy these things. If you spend your whole life waiting for things, for example heaven, you really have wasted your life on this plane of existence.
The only thing needed to live a peaceful wholesome life without any sin are six qualities, Compassion, Understanding, Concentration, Mindfulness, Empathy and Unconditional Love. And that idea is free from religon, anyone has the capacity of cultivating these qualities, regardless of what culture or religion they was brought up around. Cultivate these qualities and you wont need a book or a higher authority to tell you what is right and wrong.
