This is an old video. But I absolutly loved when I seen it. I actually seen it on tv.  I had this happen at a subway I frequent recently.  I was ordering a Sub, and they lady behind the counter asked me something and called me Ma'am,  guy behind me goes, "Dont call him ma'am, Thats a dude. Dont encourage it"  The guy infront of me, gets out of line, walks over to the guy behind me. and Replies. " Does it matter? Do you got proof she isnt a woman? She looks very pretty if you ask me, and on top of it, if you wanna throw labels around, your behavior is that of an ignorance pig, Should the lady behind the counter call you Pig instead of Sir for the rest of your time inside this establishment. "          He then paid for his Sub, even paid for mine. Then thanked me for looking after the elderly and disabled in town. Cause thats what I do for a living.              It was such a cool experience to see someone stand up for me.

I saw that here for the first time a while back. Carmen is my hero!

Even though it's set up with actors which they tell you about initially. I think it's still a valid way to gauge how people might react in various situations. This is not possible in this situation, but sometimes they have had comparisons. In one I recall they had a black guy, a white guy and a white woman try and steal a bike. People ignored the white guy, the police got called by several people with the black guy, and they actually tried to help the white woman!!

There have actually been tests like this set up to test for housing discrimination for instance. I don't know why as a situation it's not valid, as long as you don't over generalize, for instance in the case of the trans woman cashier you wouldn't get the same responses every time you did this.
