Well i have taken beginning steps to transition i quit bodybuilding ive went from 198 pounds too 160 lost literally all my muscle .i split from my wife last october due to other issues found a girlfriend she found out about my dressing etc and we broke up shes now pregnant and i already have 2 kids from my previous marriage i have vey few friends which i doubt they will approve of my lifestyle i have met one other trans girl but shes missing a few screws and looks like im gonna cut her off as a friend cuz she is more negative than positive. .no good for me. I have my first hrt appointment next week and looks like im going by myself :( im currently living in a transitional living home which is kind of like being homeless but living in a dorm room with a bunch ofguys  i have to play the guy role. otherwise i dont have any support  now im pretty well familiar with what i have to do to become a women and what i have coming up in my life i feel really alone
Will i be able to afford to transition while supporting 3 kids and going to school and paying bills ?? Im so confused?! Anyone been in this situation before any help guidance would be good im so lost with no support network but i still wanna transition im just scared of going through these changes on my own ...help!

I don't think hormones are that expensive, plus the amount you'll pay for your kids will be based off your income no?

It is possible, but success is far more likely with a support network. Transitioning IS REALY STRESSFULL, and its MUCH EASIER with people you can talk about it with. Its because of this that I found Susan's :p

This is all I can offer at the moment. Sorry.

I agree you will need some kind of support network whether it is this website and a few personal friends who are supportive or an LGBT support group you can visit with that can help you with finding things such as a gender therapist, etc., Hormones in and by themselves aren't that expensive but some of the surgeries you will need are. I'm lucky in that my needs are covered by my insurance. My surgery's are too but only because my insurance is Federal and not state (I'm disabled). If I were in your shoes I'd look into some kind of medical insurance that covers transgender treatment.

Transitioning can be as wonderful as it is scary, and even dangerous if your not in good health. Therefore it is very very veeeery necessary for your transition to be monitored by a good Endochronologist or OBGYN who has transgender experience.

All my hopes, and best wishes to you.

Sure, you can transition by yourself but it is not how I would do it.

Contact an LGBT center and see where a trans support group meets and ask if you can attend, make friends. See if a there is a woman's therepy center for abused woman and call for an intake and ask for sliding scale. You could call a university or college and ask to speak to the Psychology Department and explain the situation. You may get free counseling but need to do it in front of a class.

Good luck :)
