I live in care under a full care order in the uk and basically my social services don't want to agree to my deed poll and I can't keep this name I can't even hear some one accidentally say it without getting upset and trigger to SH and I need to apply to colleges and jobs and just meh what do I do?

I wasn't aware it was possible for deed poll's to be refused?

Is being under a full care order in the UK similar to being under a guardianship in the US? If so, then I can see (from a legal standpoint.....) how the deed poll could be refused, but I don't get why they would attempt to block it!!!!!
To be or not to be....that is the question

Get past the child stage? Seriously, do it as an adult if you need to.

if you wait until you're an adult, all you need is the piece of paper itself, with your signature and those of two witnesses, stating that your former name will from now on be know as your new name, and all that.

while you're still a minor, whoever is your legal guardian will need to give permission. other minors would have to ask their parents (both). a minor's name change also has to be approved by some senior master on behalf of the master of rolls and lots of legal stuff to protect the child's best interests.

the only thing that could change your current situation, is if you have been issued a gender recognition certificate. if you have one, you can use that as evidence of your name change instead of a deed poll. but maybe you'll have to be an adult to get that too.

My point is I have to apply for college, soon and I really don't want to apply in my old name and I need a saturday job because I'm meant to be getting a flat sorted out soonish but I'll go check out the thing about a gender recognition(?) Certificate
