6 hours?!?  Omg, my longest session to date has been two and that was plenty lol.  I pretty much stick with an hour at a time...  jeez this is gonna take forever.

I'm also glad the real story wasn't what the title implied.  ;)

Speaking of electro, has anyone had a dozen or so hard time survivors?
I've still got about a dozen that keep coming back, either that or new ones come out from the same area.

Evelyn,

I don't think that will work.
EMLA is about the only thing that will work through skin.  I won't bore you with the technical details but basically the mixture of the two types of anaesthetic allow it to pass through skin.  Lignocaine by itself won't - however if you want to numb your cheek...

I actually did get a large piece of cactus stuck on my upper lip once when I was 12.  Long story short...it was not pleasant.

6 hours!? YOUCH! I hope the reward for that will be a nice and lovely smooth face :-) .

I guess I'm terribly over-sensitive when my last laser depilation session lasted only like 10 minutes and at moments my eyes started to get really wet (with anaesthetic cream before that). My session number 5 comes this Wednesday so that will fortunately be much shorter as there's not much follicles left to incinerate.

I'm amazed of what some of you girls are capable of withstanding. WOW! I dread the moment when I'm left with whites and greys and will also have to go for electrolysis. Hopefully there won't be too many of them.

Yeah, I thought someone literally picked up a cactus and slapped you across the face with it. I was all, "No, not Grace's pretty face!" D:

Same with me.  I went from sad to relieved when I clicked on this thread.

Not sure about 'survivors', but facial hair seems to be the gift that keeps on giving.  I am fairly sure that some of these hairs actually enjoy the electrolysis.  My electrologist says that in about 8 weeks ie 24 hrs more galvanic, I should be at the stage where I am pretty much done.  The problem is that I now need to remove hair from my ears and back that countless hours of laser couldn't shift.  Then I need to remove the stray hairs that always seem to creep across my face from my eyebrows ... and then remove what is left on my chest and stomach.  Hope that will be enough but now hair seems to be regrowing on my fingers and toes ... disgusting!

Having said this I quite enjoy spending 3 hours a week talking to with my electrologist.  I think I will miss her when this discomfort, aka torture, is finished.

...or at least that's what six hours of multi probe galvanic electrolysis on my beard and mo feels like afterwards. Just saying.

Grace

This is seriously impressive.  3 hours per week seems to be about my limit.  I have never seriously thought about a longer session.

It is time to spill the beans Grace.   You cant just be using Emla and hydrating.  I need to know your secret!

On the other hand if you have a secret that works then I wish it had been shared before I had 121 hrs of galvanic and 66 hrs of blend.  Laser is a walk in the park in comparison to the 'discomfort' of galvanic.

Ha! Well this was my first six hour session (really two three hour sessions with a one hour break in between). But no, just Emla for the upper lip and beard let (soul patch/under lip). I have a fairly good tolerance for pain I guess, some of the needles/probes didn't hurt at all but some of them were utter agony, so I guess the overall effect was unpleasant but not six hours of sheer pain and torture. Surprisingly the first three hours and the next two hours went fairly quickly, last one though... yeesh. Still have a lot under the jawline and on the neck to go, plus the mo. I decided six hours a session was a way to just power through and get it over and done with... have a few more six hour blocks booked. Looking at it positively, anything less than six hours is going to be a walk in the park by comparison.

Grace, Did you try laser first, or are you none compatible for it?

Just curious, I was lucky laser cleared me but I had dark facial hair.
  •

Ms Grace

Yeah, tried it to no effect.  :-\ Beard hairs are just too light...  :(

My face is still swollen, with tiny scabs.  At 6 hrs I would have trout lips and look like my face had gone through a mincer.   Many, many years ago Dr Z's team of 2 each spent 8hrs each on my face twice in one week and twice 2 weeks later.  The skin literally oozed a clear liquid and scabbed quite badly.  I did overdo it, but injected anaesthetic was used so the pain wasn't too bad, and it did give me a full clearance.  Having said this, galvanic seems to be the only foolproof electro and I have had 121 hrs of galvanic since my encounter with Dr Z (but who is counting the time and cost ie apart from my bank manager)?

That was me yesterday, including the trout lips! Starting to improve... but it's still a good thing I'm working from home tomorrow. sigh.

Hell Grace, I am seriously in awe of you. 6 hours and just Emla? Wow!

I have found that the end of each session, regardless of how long I have been there just annoys me and I get grumpy!  Just want out.  I have only ever done just over 3 hours at a time and was exhausted.

6 hours??? Sheesh!

I swear I swell up more than I did previously.  And these days I get antsy in the last few rows done every session.  I'm turning old and frail.  :D

For my laser I'm planning to try this tattoo lidocain spray anesthetic 10% Lidocaine HCI.

Anyone tried doing this?
I think that's what my skin therapist started using on me after I broke down crying once. I apply a lidocain (25mg/g) + prilocain (25mg/g) cream at home, and then she will spray something on my upper lip and let it sit while she works on other areas. On good days it works great.

I've recently stopped being entirely cactus punched. The remaining hairs are so far apart that I get red dots instead of large red patches. And there's not enough to spend an hour on, so we do 30 minutes face, 30 minutes chest.

Incarlina,

What you are applying in your case is essentially EMLA.  50:50 mix of lignocaine and prilocaine.   Lignocaine by itself will not penetrate skin.

Aisla,

New body hair appearing has always been a bit of a trigger for me.  The slight thinning of hair around my forehead, and changes in body hair over time were what made me jump onto low dose like a lifesaver.  But yeah, facial hairs are like cockroaches - just don't seem to be able to chase them down.  I can even count the dozen or so stragglers .  -_-
