Hello.. I'm a MTF Transgender and I'm wondering if someone with experience can give me any guidance on how I can do the most out of my transition.

I've been on Spironolactone and Finasterid for about a month. In my country, I am not able to get estrogen before I turn 18 due to the system - obviously I am very eager to take estrogen, but since I cant, I want to know how I can feminize myself the most during my transition. ANY tips will be appreciated.

I'm also wondering if my dosage of Spironolactone blocks testosterone at all? I'm really not fully educated with the medications that I am taking, nor am I educated enough to find out the information I'm asking for here on Google.

Thanks <3

For the impression I get from here, being that " Spironolactone " is reffered to as a blocker, I would say yes it does BLOCK testosterone.

And I also believe we have fashion, hair and maku up boards if they can be any use to you :) And welcome.

Spiro will fend off unwanted masculine changes until you can start E.  I don't believe spiro alone with show many changes in bloodwork, as it blocks the T receptors, not necessarily lowering T itself.

But is my dosage enough? I take 1 pill  a day, I've heard you can take one pill morning and one pill evening..? And by the way I don't self medicate :) I do get guidance from a physican who is actually trans themselves, but my physican is really busy and I don't feel that I can ask many questions. It's more comfortable on here.

Hmm.. sorry, I was just really wondering if it is "normal"/"average" to take 1 pill of spiro in the morning and one in the evening. I'm not trying to self  medicate myself jesus, It's just a question. Everywhere I search there are no clear answers.

That's because there's no clear answer. The doctor will prescribe HRT based on existing hormonal levels, known health issues and - if happens - as negative side effects come by. Everyone of us is different and requires different regime. Some would almost say that HRT often comes down to alchemy or magic. Fortunately there's quite a bit of science in that :-) .

If you wish to learn about how HRT works I would rather suggest looking up a textbook about it. Here in Czech Republic we actually do get one book recommended about the whole transition process. It's intended for doctors like future therapists, psychologists, endocrinologists, surgeons... But it did contain a immensely useful information about what's to come. So hopefully there's also something similar in English.

EDIT: I did a look up based on ISBN 978-80-247-1696-1 but it seems it is only available in Czech. Too bad as it's really informative :-( .
Semi-blind asperger transwoman. But do I care? No I don't. I love myself :-) .

I personally take two spiro pills a day, though it's hard to really make much out of that without a dosage behind it.  Even if your dose was a little less, remember that most endo's generally increase your dose as you progress.  That's what happened with me and many others I've talked to at least.
